Yeah in hindsight it’s looking like he should have been retained.
I always thought he should have he seemed to be getting better and better each season and he played his ass of.

Not like fancy pants Mathew's

They shot themselves in the foot trading for him. Then they decided to double down cause of sunk cost fallacy even when he looked like a poor fit for their team. It reminds so much about when we got Tavares. You see this young team getting good and excelling, so you decided to go out and get a big piece and add it to your group. But in the end, it probably ends up doing more harm than good and you would have been better off staying the course. I think for NJ though it can easily end up worse than Tavares for us.

Meier just doesn't really fit in at all. He's a guy that needs the puck to be effective, but he's not going to have that playing with Hughes, bratt or hischier. He'd have to basically be on the third line to be the guy on a line. They really should have used those assets and cap space helping out the d and goalies

Still a lot of time for the deal to work out for them in the long run, but yeah early returns are really bad

Hamilton had surgery to repair the tear... rumours suggesting he might not be back this season.
Depending on the extent of the tear, a pec tear is a massive injury with a long rehab. I tore my pec (and later my bicep) powerlifting in my 20s. Much better medical treatment since then, but it's still an injury that probably puts him on the shelf for 4-6 months. That is a major loss for Jersey.

How is Meier like Tavares. Tavares was an amazing addition cheat code 2C and is still one the best 2C in the game today *and would be 1C on some teams

Tampa seems to be very broken.
I don't think it should be surprising to anyone. Eventually, dynasties fall. Tampa is a victim of the cap and its own success. Happens to the best of them. I also feel that Vasi has been mostly mediocre since the midway point of last season, and it seems like he has continued his mediocre play since returning from injury. Now we will see how good Tampa's vaunted management actually is, because they should be moving Stamkos and Hedman this season to start recouping assets. They are no better than a wild card team at this point, and likely a first round exit.

Oh yeah, decline is something we've wanted to see from Tampa for sure. Just weird to see their time come before Boston.

It's happening to Boston, as well. They just had an easy schedule to start the season, which gave a false impression of how they are. Boston has done a better job of maintaining a defensive structure to its game. Tampa just doesn't have the defensive personnel to do it anymore. Guys like McD, Coleman, Gourde, etc. were big losses. They were fantastic secondary players.

Having said that, Tampa is sitting on two Cup wins and three straight visits to the finals. No one can take that success away from them. Boston, on the other hand, doesn't really have much to show for this iteration of the team other than a trip to the finals (that they really should have won).

Completely warped the structure of the team that was there before.

Spent a lot of money in a position they weren't hurting in.

I still like Meier as a player maybe he's in the wrong situation there I don't know.........

Here's hoping Marchand and Pasta having been reading your bulletin board material. ;)

P.S. That Leaf 4-0 prediction is sure to fire them up.

Yeah hes a good player but just hasnt been able to find chemistry with either Hughes or Hischier. He likes to have the puck, but if youre on a line with Hughes hes going to have the puck. When he was in SJS he was the guy on his line. He can obviously still figure it out, but I felt like it was sort of an unnecessary move at the time. This season their D and Gs are really struggling. But dont have much cap space to fix it. Bringing in Toffoli this year too didnt really help Meier either lol

If you watched Boston get dismantled by the Rangers (and then, inexplicably, by Columbus), you wouldn't be surprised by my prediction. Keep in mind that Boston has somehow already played 12 games against San Jose, Chicago, the Islanders, Montreal, Detroit and Anaheim. Their schedule has not exactly been a murderer's row. After the first 6 games of the season, their record is 9-7. Seems pretty average, no?

The cream always rises to the top. When is JT Miller going to drop out and when are the 16 and 34 going to join the party?

I was really hoping the Leafa would have made a few calls when Miller seemed to be available a couple of years ago. He might be a dick, but he plays with an edge and even though the last year otwo might be a bit much, he will easily live up to his contract
