I think the only guy we need to upgrade on is Highmore & I wouldn't mind seeing Halliday for a few games to see if he could contribute more towards this team. Halliday has been playing really well in Belleville & leads the team in scoring, he deserves a callup soon.

Ostapchuk - Halliday - Gaudette
Highmore probably brings more in his role than Halliday would at the moment.

I've liked Highmore, fit in well,

I worry about Halliday's ability to step into a depth role, he's not quick on the forcheck (from my very limited viewings) and I think the reason our depth guys have succeeded is due to that high pace get in there and disrupt, then get off mentality.

God forbid an injury happens to our C's(Norris for example)

No way can Halliday come in a do what highmore has done. Very different players and we need high mores profile right now

i think ostapchuk has played well, also with cousins coming off a knee injury i would lock him into a higher role personally. Ideally he comes back and is his usual self but considering the type of injury he maybe a step or two slower.

bjugstad would be a good fit for the team, i personally want to aim a tier better

What would 4-5 inches have to do with Nick Paul?

Not even a question.

Halliday will likely never be able to play his role in the NHL, I'd put the odds extemely, extremely low

I don't see Halliday playing anything but a scoring role. I think the odds are stacked against him ever being that in the NHL but you never know.

To me he doesn't have the speed, motor or defensive awareness to do what Highmore (or Jenik or Ostapchuk) can do on the 4th line.

I'd honestly just ride the current team and not make any additions. We just can't afford to bleed any more assets unfortunately.
As much as I'd like to see Staios make a depth move for cheap (4th or something like that for Donato), I'm fine with Staios showing restraint. We don't have the assets to acquire anyone that is helping us go past the 2nd round and there's value in waiting and seeing what this team can do in a playoff environment.

We'll have the summer to make some more moves with a bit of cap flexibility and have a better idea of our cupboards based off what we do with our first rounder.

Halliday may not be the perfect fit for the bottom 6, but he shouldn't need to be. There's a hole in our top 6 beside Norris and Batherson that Perron clearly is not capable of filling at his age.

It would be smart for Green to give Halliday a tryout in that kind of role before pulling the trigger on a deadline acquisition like Donato.

Not sure what more Halliday needs to do to get a callup. He's been one of the best offensive players in the AHL in the last 20+ games.
