So Boston is going to lose twice in regulation to Columbus in the span of a few days, but beats the Leafs in Toronto?

Sports won't necessarily follow logic. Toronto beat Vancouver and Tampa (twice) while somehow losing to Chicago.

Good win for the Kings. Not sure what to make of the Av's. Think i'd have them below Dallas in the Central.

Avs were on a B2B, 3rd game in 4 nights while the Kings had been off since Wednesday. I think Avs are still the team to beat in that division, but in the West, they're probably third behind LA and Vegas.

Trevor Moore going to pot 40 this year? Sitting at 12 goals at the 1/4 mark.

Which 2018-2019 Marlies teammate gets to 40 first, Carcone or Moore? :sarcasm:

Jack Hughes.

Top 5 player in the league? Guy who will challenge McDavid and Matthews for league MVP/best player in the next couple of seasons and might get some discussion in the next couple years as the best in the NHL?

Missed some games this year, but he was leading the league in points when he got hurt. Since coming back, 4G and 6A in 7 games, keeping the lead in points per game and closing the gap toward the overall top spot.

Last year he had 40+ goals and 99 points. As a 21 year old.

I'm pretty confident McDavid is going to pick things up pretty soon and could surpass Hughes in points this year. But what Hughes is doing as a 21/22 year old might not be getting enough attention around the league.

Here's another way to look at it

Last 82 games played for each player:

Connor McDavid, 52 goals, 26 (almost 27) years old (near statistical peak for a forward), $12.5m per year

Auston Matthews, 50 goals, 26 years old, just signed an $13.25 per year extension

Jack Eichel, 28 goals, 27 years old, $10m per year.

Jack Hughes, 45 goals, only 22 years old, $8m per year signed until 2030.

No doubt that Hughes is a great player on a great contract.

Edit.

That being said. Hughes signed it during the 21/22 season where he had a career high of 36 points. He ended up with 56 in 40 some odd games that year and the Devils did a great job gambling he would become a star.

McDavid will definitely pass Hughes in short order.

That being said, he's going to be a top 5 player for a long time, be a steady top 5 to 10 scorer, and his contract will be seen as the best value contract in the league the way MacKinnon's was and Draisaitl's is.

I'm all for teams "gambling" and signing their franchise player's to max contract lengths at favourable dollars to the team when young and early in their careers. They look better and better over time. I'll also offer the obligatory...yes, I wish the same happened here in Toronto with our three superstars.

Jack Hughes is easily a top 5 offensive player in the league (no idea what his defensive prowess is, but who cares). The worst part is that I don't think he is actually the best Hughes on his team. Luke Hughes will be better than Quinn.

Interesting stat on Mains that the Coyotes will be the first team to beat the previous 5 Cup winners in 5 consecutive games. Most likely because there hasn't been an opportunity to do that before, but a very impressive run nonetheless.

Kerfoot has 9 points the last 4 games. Good for him. I always loved his motor, and I prefer Domi but I never hated him

Attending a Leafs regular season game would run a family of four an average of $859.68. The price includes four tickets, four hot dogs, two beers and two soft drinks. That's 39 per cent more than the NHL average of $517.60.

Changing lives through the spirit and power of sport.

That's ML$E's motto for anyone who didn't know. I guess bankruptcy would be a life altering event. God knows I would be in hock for months if I ever paid that much to attend a game.

How anyone can even try and pretend it's not all about the money is beyond me.

This is a team that hasn't even come close to sniffing a cup in decades. Who's hardworking blue collar fans are being priced out of the arena. It now costs a mortgage payment to bring your family to a game.

There is no honour in this.

ML$E expects fans with more money than brains to just pay the price and cheer. Regardless if they ever contend for a cup or not. It's pretty obvious their working philosophy is much different than the official motto.

A sucker is born every minute.

I'm here with my poor reading skills thinking 39 cents above average is not that bad !

 after realizing its 39 cents on every 1$.
