Good for Columbus. The kid had one good year when everyone on the team played above expectations. He hasn't earned the megabucks just yet.

So i just watched a video where nhl stars pick their top fantasy defenseman and something that was interesting was that Subban said Karlsson.

Here is the video:

i liked subban's reaction, who himself scores a lot of points

fantasy wise, the answer should be karlsson since he should still score even with a less offensive team and normally doesn't miss games.

jones and crosby went with homer picks

What do you guys think Chicago will do to fix next year's cap situation? This year they can trade off Versteeg or something easy to reach the cap but next year will be more difficult. They currently have 3.2M to sign 2-3 forwards including Saad and 3-4 D. Even with dropping Versteeg (who they would have to replace and wouldn't get all 2.2M back) and a 4-5M cap increase, I could see them having a hard time signing enough players, especially if Saad has a great year and receives offer sheets.

in not sure what theyre going to do, but i can see the Teows and Kane contracts being the beginning of the end of Chicago as perennial contenders

It's not the cold war.

Who cares if Johansen is trying to get paid. It is weird to hate him for it.

Canada and Russia don't have a great political relationship right now, and that's putting it lightly. It's reasonable to expect some backlash, though not a given.

Fans don't seem to like to see a player strong arm their teams, especially when said player has one good year, and is holding out for a massive, and some would argue unearned, contract.

Fans are loyal to the team, so anyone affecting the team's performance or potential in a negative way is going to cause unrest. For a player, not being in training camp, and not getting into preseason games has the potential to be negative for the team. Especially when said player is one of your best players.

I don't think fans really care about players "getting paid" rather they care about the overall health and competitiveness of the team, and if you harm the team's abilities to win games, you're going to be in the bad books.

If I was Johansen I would go there to stay in game shape, put up some big numbers and get even more leverage.

Nothing Johansen can do will get him more leverage

The only thing that I think could do it is if Columbus blows chunks out of the gate, and he doesn't control that
