It's a parasite, apparently. I'm on some pretty serious meds.

If anyone ever tells you that Indonesia is some tropical paradise, you tell 'em otherwise.

Serious stuff. Take care.

On the rule changes, I'm glad that spinorama is gone. The guys really looked awkward trying that move. Most guys really don't have the hands-feet combo required to really do it well.

Here's what the new trapeziod looks like, we've already got it painted on the ice at the CTC:

(thanks for the well-wishes, y'all.)

The NHL released the rule changes for the upcoming season.

Here's The Quick Rundown:

1) Trapezoid extended by two feet on both sides of the goal posts
2) Clipping, charging, elbowing, interference, kneeing, head-butting and butt-ending go from being regular penalties to "Physical Fouls" - the second offence within the same season earns a one-game suspension.
3) "Spin-O-Rama" no longer allowed in shootouts.
4) Video Goal Judges given more power in goal reviews.
5) a defending player will now get a 2-minute "Tripping" penalty on a diving play to break up the puck (like, for instance, when diving forward with your stick to try and break up a breakaway), regardless of whether the defending player touches the puck first or not (old rule: if the defending player touched the puck first - no penalty)
6) Higher fines for repeat "diving" offenders (looking at you, Kesler). Head coaches will now be eligible for fines for diving players as well.
7) 2-minute "delay of game" penalties for face-off delay tactics when a team has iced the puck.
8) Coaches no longer have to submit a 3-player list for shootouts.
9) Some changes on where the faceoff will be when the puck is out of bounds.
10) Hash marks in the circles will be international-sized (ie: bigger).

On number 2, I hope they exercise some restraint and use some logic when determining whether or not the second offence deserves a suspension, particularly in the case of interference.

As for #5, it's about time. Never made any sense that you could do something that at any other point in the game would be a penalty so long as you hit the puck first. The one problem is I expect a lot of dives as a result of the change.

Edit: Just read up on point 2: If you receive a game misconduct from any of those penalties, the second one will result in a suspension. makes more sense now, for some reason I though it meant 2 minors for interference would cost you a game...

I got to feel for Columbus. What they are currently going through with Johansen is what we went through last year with Cowen.

Well it looks like Alfredsson is official done. He has not skated in the past 10 days cause of back problems and is not expected to attend the wings training camp.

Was going to say...his career ends with not a bang but a whimper...

I hope that $5 million and 5 extra playoff games were worth uprooting your entire family and damaging your legacy for.

He made a mistake he probably knows it. No need to rub it in.
Or he had a fun year with a new group, made new friends, gave his family a new experience, played for a team he has always respected.

definitely worth it

lagacy <<<<< 5MM + 5 playoff games

we were offering 4.5m, so it was a 0.5m difference, and he played 3 games in the playoffs

Also worth noting the potential that Ottawa make the playoffs had he stayed. He certainly was a big reason why Detroit managed to get in with all those injuries, it's not outlandish to suggest we could have snuck in with them faltering, though it's hard to say as his decision to move on had second order effects on our roster (one MacArthur and Ryan may not be Sens right now had he stayed, or even both).

He made a mistake he probably knows it. No need to rub it in.

I think you are bang on with the second line; he spent his whole career with Ottawa, getting a chance to see the league from a different perspective has it's own benefits.

I still hope he comes back to be a part of the organization now that his playing career seems to have ended. He deserves to get a proper send off despite how he departed and I would love to see it happen with him re-joining the team in a new role, though I'd probalby prefer one more season without him.
