So what happened when they gave out the conn smythe trophy? The audio cut out and then they didn't even show anything , then they cut to someone else on the ice. ESPN/ABC really messed that up.

McDavid didn't come out to take his picture with the trophy. The only player to win the MVP as a member of the runner up team not to do so. Five other winners on the losing team had the mental fortitude to accept and acknowledge the choice to name them MVP even in a heartbreaking moment. It's not a huge deal in the end, but it is glimpse into this guy's psyche.

You can never count on "maybe next year" or "they'll be back". Did anyone think Kopi and Drew were done being on contending teams at ages 26 and 24 coming off of two cups in three years? This might have been McDavid's best chance at a cup
The media votes on it. So when you take them into consideration it doesn't feel as prestigious.

Not only did Mr MVP not score in Games 6 and 7, he had zero points in Game 7 against the Canucks.

I respect Mcdavid. I really do. All things considered, he’s better than both Crosby and Ovechkin and probably deserves to be on the hockey Mt Rushmore one day.
