Hockey is to regional for a different system to work, to many players come from the GTA. This would make the NHL like the EPL where the same teams end up with almost all the good players. North America has the best sports leagues with the most parity, and the draft system all the leagues have is a big reason why.

Luke Hughes got his first goal in OT against the Caps.

Another McDavid caliber player jumping in and making things happen without paying his dues or learning the system.

Enjoy those bus rides to Tucson and Bakersfield, Clarke. Be sure to wave to Walker as he flies above you on the charter.

I think that Faber is going to end up forcing his way into the Minnesota lineup for the playoffs (if he's not already penciled in). It's similar to Caufield with Montreal when he joined the team, eventually the elite ability is going to show through and push a slug like Klingberg to the pressbox. Sometimes coaches are stubborn about putting young guys straight from the NCAA into the playoffs, but then their hands are forced (like when Montreal went down 0-2 vs Toronto and put CC in)

I’ve always been very critical of Torts and how he treats the media but good on him for this. At least he didn’t go full Babcock.

Luke Hughes with the OT game winner, has Byfield ever even gotten a shift in OT before?

Quinton Byfield is the Ben Simmons of the NHL and I won’t stop saying it.

You both are right on your points. Byfield has been very underwhelming through 3 seasons as a pro, but the Kings also suck at developing and deploying their young players in a position to succeed.
Who wins conference if Vegas/EDM/Colorado all tie in points?
Edmonton

Byfield's gonna have to have a 400% increase in production next season if he wants to keep up at 21.
They really are leagues apart when it comes to talent. One would hope that perhaps it'll take a Kempe like development curve for Byfield to finally become a legitimate top line forward, but at least Kempe showed some drive early in his career.

People around here will crap on Stutzle for playing on a non-playoff team (despite the fact that his team used 7 different goalies this season), but I guess they'll conveniently forget how long it took for some of the homegrown talent like Kopitar and Brown to find success here.

I was fine with the Byfield pick at the time, but Stutzle was the player coming from a country not really known for sending players to the NHL and a LW which at the time, felt like we really needed since Kempe hadn't broken out yet. Fortunately for us, Kempe has broken out so it does sting a little less, but still for now he does look like the superior pick barring Byfield taking a big step.

I f***ing hate the Oilers. I hope LA can pull the upset off. Oilers fans talking up the last two games like the Kings didn’t have two key players out. Fiala and Vilardi need to be healthy. Feel like the Oilers and their fans need some humble pie. Kings can do it if everyone is firing on all cylinders. Big if right now tho.

Fack, if the Ducks end up with Bedard, it's all on us 😹

Pittsburgh s***tting the bed was obvious. And Chicago wanted Captain Serious to ride off into the sunset.

And actually it was all for nothing because anyway Seattle lost😸

Something tells me it'll be Anaheim or SJS that get Bedard or a team nowhere near the bottom like a Detroit/Washington.
