Last year's game 7 scratches:

Austin Strand, Tobias Bjornfot, Lias Andersson, Quinton Byfield, Gabriel Vilardi, Jordan Spence

i guess it was much more useful to have them play in neither the NHL game 7 OR the AHL playoffs

Thank goodness Athanasiou was in though, that sure served us much better long term
Don't forget about Torrey stretcher, god I hate TM

Nashville up 1-0 on Vegas and are just starting a power play. Quick didn't look too good on the goal.

Nashville killed a 5-3 pp for almost the full 2 minutes, then went and scored. The goal was overturned because the puck was kicked in during a scrum in front of the goal.

If Nashville holds their end of the bargain and we win tonight we'll be playing for the division lead on Thursday.

can anyone smarter than me dumb down this latest Arizona Coyote law suite?
Coyotes and a Developer hook up to propose a deal for an arena/residential development in Tempe. They ask Phoenix and Sky Harbor(the airport) not to interfere. Phoenix and Sky Harbor agree on the basis that Bluebird(the developer) builds housing in a manner that would help reduce noise complaints from residents due to the air traffic.

So Tempe City Council approves the development. Phoenix and Sky Harbor then step in and contest the zoning for the development and arena. The Coyotes and Bluebird are counter suing saying they broke the agreement that they had to bully Tempe out of getting the arena.

Another poster said a similar thing happened with the Cardinals when they tried to move to Tempe years ago.

Chicago Wolves going independent next season, could be a potential landing spot for Peterson so that he’s not taking starts away from Portillo on the Reign.

Cal is from Iowa and went to Notre Dame so it might be appealing for him to go there.
What do you think explains Cal's precipitous fall from heir apparent to his current status? Thats a good point re Portillo, they're going to want to develop him as you said. Hadnt even considered how that may impact the overall pipeline - but it makes sense to move him elsewhere - not sure how that works given his NHL contract.

I think he just lost his confidence, and a lot of times when it happens guys can never recover.

The Kings have to have a discussion with Cal and determine what is best for all parties here. In this scenario Cal gets to move closer to an area he is familiar with, in an attractive market to live and gets a fresh start away from SoCal. If he plays well he may get some NHL bites once he is bought out by the Kings.

The Kings open up an opportunity for Portillo to be the man for the Reign next year and probably get the Wolves to pick up some of the actual cash owed to CP.

The Wolves get a guy who was an NHL starter not to long ago, and is better than signing a free agent who could bolt for the NHL at anytime.

It’s still a $4m cap penalty, but that is probably better than giving up another 1st rounder for some team like the Hawks to take him.

So you are proposing here a buyout which makes him a free agent? The Kings get more relief by leaving him put I think its 1.2 mil. But what I think your saying with some cooperation from the Wolves it could be a win win, if they eat some of the 4mil and beat the value of leaving him in Ontario until the season after next when the buyout is much cheaper.

The Kings are still on the hook for $4m of his cap hit next season in this scenario. But it’s just a fresh start for everyone involved. I don’t know what Chicago would pay the Kings in actual dollars to take on CP as a loan. But this situation would potentially give Cal the best chance to play a lot and maybe turn things around enough where maybe he gets an NHL contract from someone after the Kings buy him out a year from now.

I just don’t see how Cal is back next year with Copley signed as the backup, Portillo coming in and in Korpi or some other guy as the starter.

The Kings may also just be content to punt another 1st rounder to be completely done with him. But boy that’s a lot of 1st rounders to be giving up.
