imagine playing them in the forum blue and gold throwbacks

what a miss
The NHL went stupid with all the black uniforms 15 years ago or so. The Kings are one of the few teams that have not returned to their roots.

No need to imagine, it happened back in 2021 and it was amazing.

I'm not sure there's a professional league in the world that hates its fans as much as the NHL.
Thing is, you could say the exact same thing in reverse.

The biggest problem the NHL has is trying to accommodate fans who are new to the game who want to change it to meet their expectations. And since the vast majority have never played the game, they don't understand why the game is damaged by constantly manipulating the institutional aspects that made the game so attractive in the first place.

Barkov skating - still considered questionable - like the hit he took. Lets see what the panthers do about it. Id start Lomborg and have him low bridge either of the two.. he's got that nasty streak that should be utilized.

As much as the oilers' shit is making me rage, I don't think they should do anything but stay the course. The Panthers have them right where they want them - very very frustrated and playing very poorly.

Depends.. if Barkov is out, or is back but not 100% - that is a series effecting situation.. only fair to even it up

Hoping to see someone on Florida absolutely clock McDrai tonight. It's obvious Barkov was immediately concussed after that blatant headshot. Typical Oilers MO: knock out opposing team's top player to level the playing field because they can't win straight up.

I'm really surprised he didn't get at least a game for that elbow. The first time I saw it, it looked like a guy who just mis-timed or misread a check and was trying to finish it. When you see the camera angle from behind the glass though, you clearly see him throw out the elbow to the jaw. It's no different than the elbow Pronger threw against Ottawa and that deserved more than it got too.

I really doubt he was concussed, the NHL has a concussion protocol similar to the NFL and I can't remember an instance where a player was concussed on a Sunday and cleared for a Thursday game, this would be Monday to Thursday. He practiced in full yesterday too. He got rocked and went in for evaluation, but very unlikely was he actually concussed.

I garentee you if the series was tied 1-1 he gets a game for it. A 3-0 series lead in the Finals is essentially death to ratings and the last thing the league wants.

I don't doubt that was a factor, but I also think you need to be SUPER egregious to get a suspension in the finals and, even though it's pretty clear what happened, there's enough of an "explanation" that you can excuse it. The last time I remember a suspension in the Finals was back with Boston and Vancouver in 2011 and that hit by Rome was incredibly late and right out in the open. Hard to ignore that one.

I mean you could be right, who knows. Usually headshots like that end up in concussions. But lets not kid ourselves, its the Finals, these guys are going to play thru just about anything barring one of their limbs getting cut off.

More egregious than Draisatl jumping almost a foot off the ground to head shot Barkov?

My point is that at the end of the day the NHL is a business and needs to make as much revenue as possible. A 7 game Finals makes the league more money than a 4 or 5 game series.

If the details are exactly the same (Florida up 2-0 in the series, heading back to Edmonton) and Barkov throws that hit on Draisatl, we are sitting here talking about who in Player Safety hates Barkov and why they threw the book at him and handed out a 2-3 game suspension in the Finals.

The league needs this, or any other playoff series to be as competitive as possible to make money.

The teams or players involved don't matter. Prior actions dictate that the league will always stack the deck to competitive balance, just look at Soucy getting suspended against the Oilers. Canucks up 2-1, oh well there goes a key player for the Canucks for game 4.

I can see both sides, i mean i think youre right

but yeah it took a guy getting folded in half and literally breaking his back to get a suspension in the Final
