When talking about the Edmonton series, don't forget that they got absolutely waxed 6-0 and 8-2 in two of the games and choked away a lead in a game that went to OT which they won 5-4. Game 7 was a heroic effort from Quick as they were completely dominated.

Are they "better" than last year? Scoring wise yes but the goaltending situation is a giant hole and they could get motorboated quite easily by Edmonton.

They could get swept for sure.

But is Edmonton better? Their goalie situation is terrible as well, just as big a hole. Campbell is worse than Copley for sure, he's been Petersen/Quick bad. So they go with an unproven guy? What else have they done to improve? Have they added a gamebreaker like Fiala without subtracting? Did they have a young guy like Vilardi step up and start scoring? Were they missing an absolute top defender last year in the series?

Maybe they grab someone at the deadline, who knows. It goes both ways. If you go to the Edmonton board most of those posters absolutely think that if they don't make a move, they are first round fodder. They've done nothing to improve at all, so the next 3 days are key for them. They are at the cap and had to move out poolparty just for some wiggle room.

I just think the thing with Edmonton is you can never count McDavid out entirely. He basically won 2 playoff rounds by himself last year. I don't think they're favorites or anything, but you pretty much have to respect them no matter what because McDavid will dominate

Absolutely, the guy can go apeshit and dominate everything. With Ekholm, they will be tougher because their biggest problems are in the back. If we draw them in the first round the odds are basically a wash. Whoever gets home ice would probably be slightly favored.

I mean there is a good chance whoever comes out of the east will be missing a significant piece or 2 by the cup. Get there and anything can happen. Hell OT luck landing your way changes a whole series.
Totally, but the way these Eastern Conference teams are talking... I just wanna see the tears.

Bro, Dubas is on a rampage!

They just got Ekholm, so they did something on defense.

Geez, with all the deals today you'd think today was the deadline... Looks like the Oilers are out of the Chychrun race unless they are going full crazy. Hopefully, that lowers the price...
