I was hoping COL wouldn’t sort out their 2C problem until the summer when we’d hopefully be sellers. Danault would’ve been perfect for them. I would’ve loved to see Byram here especially with our lack of LHD.

I wish Henrique would've gone to the Avs instead of EDM. Colorado clearly has a hole at center ever since Kardi left...
 
WPG, COL, DAL, VAN, EDM, and VGK all loading up. Is anyone else worried that this is going to spur Blake to pull off some cap acrobatics at the cost of more futures because he needs to keep up in the arms race?
 
Someone in El Segundo needs to do this to Blake so he doesn't do anything idiotic

That trade makes Edmonton's lineup better, but I think they should've focused their powder on a goalie. A netminder is the main thing that's holding them back.

A good goaltender makes them the cup favorite IMO.
 
Interesting to see Byram traded, this is who the Kings apparently really wanted in 2019. He showed flashes of greatness, but also struggled to stay on the ice and had consistency issues in the defensive zone. But even as recently as last season he was producing pretty well from the back-end.

Buffalo now has Dahlin, Power and Byram as LHD and add in Jokiharju and that is a pretty nice young defense core.

It would be funny to observe Blake playing Hold'em... like what hands does he go all in on.

He had 10g14a in 40 games last season with no PP1 time. Thats a guy the Kings shouldve gotten - corner the market on concussion prone 2019 top 5 draft picks... more seriously that would been a coup to get him pair him w DD and have a more balanced top pair.

Adding Henrique for that price is legitimately a really good move for the Oilers.
 
Kings should move Roy and get a LD or a winger. I don’t like the goalies right now and I think the Kings will have to live with PLD at this point.

Unfortunately as a Devils fan, the list of available goalies is pretty short and the ask is high. Nashville is back in a playoff spot, so it seemed like they've shelved any talks about Saros. Can't imagine Calgary helping out their rivals with Markstrom. Is 2024 John Gibson an upgrade and would he approve a trade to Edmonton?

I don't think Kappo Kahkonen, Jake Allen, or Elvis Merzlikins moves the needle for them.

Maybe Boston dangles Linus Ullmark if they need the assets to parlay into a top six forward. But Ullmark has a NTC too.

The other issue is that Henrique is 75% retained and on an expiring deal. Fitting in a goalie who's already signed for 2024-25 would be tough. Boston wouldn't be able to retain on Ullmark.

Kings don’t really need to make a move that’s going to move the needle in any way. Trading Roy for a 1st plus would be a nice change of pace

Didn't he also have concussion issues, or was recovering from one that might have slowed him down a bit, but COL was dealing from strength, absolutely LOVE what they did, replace Byram with Walker, and replace Johansson with Mittlestat and it cost them a 1st....that's just insane, because the step from Byram to Walker is much much shallower than the one from Johansson to Mittlestat

I think he had one big concussion that put him out of commission for awhile. But yeah agreed, Avs made some great plays, think they're the team to beat in the West.

given that we don't have much of a future left, i'm not concerned

with the way standings are looking, we might face EDM yet again

and hopefully this will be the end of Blake

however, Bergevin lurking in the shadows has me wetting my bed a few times already
