I think he had one big concussion that put him out of commission for awhile. But yeah agreed, Avs made some great plays, think they're the team to beat in the West.
I’m liking Dallas. That defense is pretty solid. Like their depth up front. They might do something small at the deadline but they look pretty strong.

I'M SHOCKED!

"NHL insider Darren Dreger reported this afternoon that Mark Stone will be out for the rest of the regular season. The Golden Knights captain last played on the 20th when he sustained an undisclosed upper-body injury. Initial reports suggested that he would be out for a few weeks but it now seems that that has extended through the regular season."

Wow, can't believe the Aves gave up on Byram so fast. Mittlestadt gives them more depth up front but didn't think Byram was expendable.

Hanifin to Vegas is basically the nail in the coffin for the Kings (if the coffin wasn't already nailed lol).

Vegas, Edmonton, Colorado, Dallas, Vancouver... All legit contenders (Vancouver on fraud watch for me personally though) and all on paper better than the Kings. Now all of those teams are loading up for big playoff runs.

The Kings didn't stack up well against those teams a week ago.. Now, the gap is substantially larger. Chalk the season and sell what you can. Do some re-tooling in the offseason and hope things look better next year.

Good.

There’s nothing the kings could add between now and Friday that would change anything for them. This roster has more gaping holes than a Santa Ana gangbang.

I thought Hanifin to Tampa was all but confirmed last night, what happened? Hopefully Vegas paid a ransom but Conroy’s been pretty unimpressive as a negotiator so far.

Yep, with every other West team going crazy now would be a good time to decide to sell rather than float into the playoffs to get worked over by any number of those teams.

Vegas org comes into the league gets all sorts of consideration, 2 finals and a cup in first 5 years, and keeps working the system... and not trying to hide it. Like how is it two years in a row Stone miraculously gets healthy right before the playoffs start perfectly circumventing the cap

Generational captain, always putting the team first.

Also what’s with the 75% retained on Henrique? I thought 50% was max?

The fraud is the Kings and the sooner they just admit they are like 16th seed in March Madness the better. At minimum get something for Roy. The East will be just as desperate to add pieces after seeing whats going on in the West.

What we've seen recently is that teams are getting a 3rd team involved to help retain salary. So for the Henrique trade, Ducks are retaining 50%, while the Lightning are retaining 25% and get free picks out of it.

This is a big issue with being in the blackhole.
Everyone above you loads up to get better while you are capped out in mediocrity.
Dont expect any big moves and dont look forward to the draft where you wont know the name of the guy picked in the 16-24 range.
The best you get are streaks of good play like the beginning road trip but then seesaw back down to horrid play for stretches.

And now Martinez on LTIR. I'm not sure why other GM's don't model themselves after Vegas with their cap circumvention. At the very least if more GM's use this tactic the league will have to put a stop to it so Vegas can't pull this shit anymore.

The only way it can realistically be stopped is if they can prove that these players aren't actually hurt for the duration.

i don't know how much due diligence they do on that stuff but yeah, i think they have to "be able to prove it"

regardless most of these guys have injuries, it's just a matter of conveniently timing the need for surgery then the number of "unexpected setbacks" they have which can probably be handwaved away by holding the patient's reporting as gospel

what's the league gonna do when a player says "it doesn't feel quite right yet"? make them skate a 500m?

frustrating situation that's quite frankly, pretty easily resolved if they'd care to

If that's the case then Blake needs to be savvy and do the same, he needs all the help he can get. If you're not cheating you're not trying to win. Just look at the Astros, Redsocks, Patriots...
