It’s funny because usually it takes some time to play out but

PLD scoring at half of his career average despite having the easiest starts and matchups of his career

Vs vilardi and Iafallo playing key roles in the top six of the hottest team in the league and Kupari (prior to injury) in the bottom six AND a 2nd round pick

That’s not just slight intentional imbalance to fill a need at c, that’s Chevy robbing Blake absolutely blind and THEN shaking him upside down to see if anything else at all falls out of his pockets

It’s basically worst case scenario right now, three players at the top of their roles AND a pick vs Jordan staal/dustin penner hybrid at 8.5 million. I don’t even think there’s anything PLD could do to tip the balance at this point, icing on the cake would be WPG ending up with the two best players in the deal AND finishing ahead in the playoffs

I figured this would be Blake signing his own death warrant, his lucic deal, but I didn’t think it would arrive at dog shit so quickly

...and Blake thought he needed to throw in that 2nd for good measure.

The fact he gets no f***ing hearing from this is so f***ing irritating.

Kaliyev got f***ing suspended four games for this and he didn’t even blatantly stick out his knee.

Pastrnak charged Lindgren from behind with full intention of boarding him and no f***ing suspension? f*** this league.

It continues to be results driven punishment around the league and context only matters if you're not a superstar.

I believe the Kings were just valued by Forbes as either the 3rd or 4th most valuable franchise in the league.

My guess is that those numbers mean a lot more towards Blake's job security than PLD's.
Got a link to the article or more info? Not saying I don't believe it, but I want to see the numbers on this.

Edit: Nevermind I found it and the Kings are that high solely because AEG owns Crypto as well. That's it, it's because the team owns the arena they play in so their income is higher.

If not for the emergence of Byfield and Moore, along with the stellar play of Talbot, Blake would be in trouble. If those three weren't playing lights out, there would be a lot more scrutiny on how badly the Kings got hosed in the PLD trade.

Some people may be saying that PLD just needs "time", but when you are aquired for a rising (albeit injury proned) young talent, and then paid 8.5 million dollars, you had better dang well produce more than a shot on goal here and there. At this point I would easily take Blake Lizotte over PLD. Lizotte may be small, but at least he plays with heart.
A really good player doesn't need time to adjust. He's been given his own line, he should be driving it. It's not like he has to learn to adjust to Kopitar.

PLD is an enigma for sure. Danault came in and became a fan favorite almost instantly. You gotta think that this group did their due diligence on him before making that trade, especially with all the assets we gave up. I've watched a ton of footage of him playing hockey and he can make high-end plays as good as anyone else in the league. It's just not always on a linear curve.

not f***in cool flailing his skates around like that but i also think it's extremely sleazy how guys see someone bent over the bench and see that as an opportunity to blatantly push them in or hold them there

I gave my daughter a 10-minute misconduct for that when she was younger, she didn't want to be picked up and taken somewhere so she flailed her legs around in the exact same way and speared me in the nuts.

Frk doesn't have the toddler excuse. He would have been better off pulling his legs into the bench and then hopping back on. I get he was probably pissed but come on.

It was easier for Danault to come in and become a fan favorite as LA was not losing liked players to bring him in to begin with.
Than you add in the contract PLD got vs what many think he should have got, and also the issue of tying up needed cap space to address goaltending and PLD likely was not going to be given a fair look by a lot of fans.

I am really trying to not judge till playoffs. If he can turn into the guy he was with Columbus in the bubble year than I will understand the deal. If he does not, and Talbot regresses I will likely be bitter towards him.

If Nashville continues to play well there are going to be 4-5 teams fighting over the #8 spot. We have some games with Edmonton and Calgary, but the Kings largely avoid playing those teams down the stretch and are either facing the top-tier or bottom-feeders for the most part. That might be a boon, there is nothing worse than playing a desperate team at the end of the season.

That's the way I feel as well. Not too happy with how the trade is turning out at the moment, but at least his underlying numbers are saying "Don't panic" while your eyes are saying "WTF". We'll see which one is right down the stretch.

That Frk play should put an end to the “players care about the safety of other players” conversation. That‘s just blatant.
I will never understand how Herby could say so confidently that players care about each other’s wellbeing. What this year has shown us if a player feels wronged they will escalate the situation despite the consequences to get revenge. I know KingsPawn always says “Engelund didn’t deter this from happening”. I think it’s not a matter of deterrence as much as it is now teams are trying to not be just be the victims. DL said every team needs a couple of criminals for a reason. I think teams need players that are willing to f*** up the opposition because it doesn’t make sense that one team should be okay with being on the receiving end exclusively.

Our old friend got 5 games for this. Not sure what the hell he's doing here.

It's reckless and the suspension is deserved. He did look like he was immediately going over to the guy after to see if he was okay when the clip is cut off, so I don't think he meant to clip him with the skate.
