Kyle Dubas on hearing Austin Matthews not signing...

* Apparently he and Austin Matthews are close, not to mention share the same agent

The Hossa's allergy thing is kind of stupid to complain about and I constantly see people talking about it like they had it all planned. Hossa was still very good and useful and likely had a few more years at a decent level, they didn't force him into retirement or anything. Interviews he's given talking about it make it seem like he was playing through torture. His allergy wasn't a lucky break for them at all.
I don’t buy this at all. You are ignoring the most relevant details of why this is a scam.
(1) The season he was to play, and for the three subsequent seasons, Hossa was only to receive $1m each of those four years. He had already been paid $59m of his $63m contract. He received $4m the season preceding his retirement and $7.9m the season before that.
(…what a coincidence…)

(2) Hossa played in 89% of regular season games and 100% of the Hawks 4 playoff games. Together he played in 89.5% of all games.
(…Within a few months he can’t put on his pads…)

(3) The Hawks have an extensive history of using these loopholes to get out of their cap problems. I can document these but most fans are aware of Kane‘s miracle healing and them getting out of the horrible Seabrook and Hosea contracts. (Which means they cheated against the cap not only near the end of those bad contracts but also each year of the contract because their cap was artificially low the years Hossa and Seabrook actually played. e.g., the Hawks paid Hossa $59m to play 8 years…an avg of $7.37m per year. Hossa’s actual cap hit those years was $5.25. The Hawks actually got an extra $2m per year. ..must be nice…
You don’t want to see this calculation for Seabrook, which was the worst contract in hockey. Sickening, while the Kings had to wait out Brown and trade Quick.

I only bet with my dick, never my money.

Don’t get me wrong I want Florida for multiple reasons, but they just haven’t looked all that impressive to me. Especially if Barkov is gonna be playing on one leg going forward.
Ie you'll test drive a tijuana hooker and bet you dont get crabs clamydia and herpes? thats not the kind of action im looking for myself. Yes if Barkov is laid up, they are probably toast. I just think a lot of people overvalue teams that look good in the moment like EDM after Calgary last season.. I think Florida heathy knocks out the Marsa-show

I mean… kings with a competent coach get to at least the 2nd round. Lots a what if’s. I’m talking about what is. Like out of all the things I’ve stuck my dick in, it’s still attached and disease free. ;)

We dont know Barkov's status.. so assuming he is out or feeble is also a what if...

Maybe I'm forgetting how it works for a guy entering the last year of his deal the next season, but can't they not even sign anything until July 1st anyways?

Yes but he has a NMC that also kicks in then.

Dubas walked Matthews, Marner, and Nylander right to free agency. And all of them have a NMC (Nylander a M-NTC). Dubas got bent over tenfold.

Ah thanks, keep forgetting about the clause. Dubas was really impressively troubled at getting young RFAs signed

You’re not wrong, but he didn’t sit out 56 minutes of the last game because he felt good.
True.. He looks pretty effective tonite. Not like our poor post Cogliano Fiala grimacing after each shift

I’ll admit, I’m surprised he’s doing as well as he is this game.
Brind'amour is talking to himself now after Burns just blasted Necas knee.. losing a 3rd guy to friendly fire .. they havent had a lot of luck in this series

Riddle: who has best oral hygiene on FLA
