I don't think it needs to be an open-ended pointed question because that gives an out

A simple binary 'yes/no' question where the answer is factually the opposite of favorable to the organization is enough to make it short circuit as well as out several alt accounts

Also McNabb & Amadio!!!!
But just a first cup.

Also Eichel so we can have multiple years of Eichel> McDummy or Mathews arguments. 😂

They also have something like a 4M bonus overage going into next season.
Hutton too if you want to keep going but I am only sentimental about Martinez and Quick

Would love to see an analysis on this how this year's team was built. So many strong opinions around here on what is the right and wrong way to build a team (and of course how LAK management is doing it the wrong way), would be very interesting to see what direction the Panthers went.
After winning the presidents trophy in 21-22 but losing in 1st round to their nemesis TB... the GM did the blockbuster trade to get Tkachuk. Seems to be a GM executing a vision - was not even happy w a president's trophy, felt the need to increase toughness and change to a heavier style for playoff hockey.

I think it was more about him not sure if Huberdeau or Weegar would re-sign in FL......

Tkuchuk was on the market and FL GM made a trade to get him .. if true re Huberdeau and Weeger not willing to sign, makes it the trade look even better. I get your point re maybe he had other motivating factors. But bottom line, he improved his team for playoff hockey. In any of these deals, you could say its luck partly. Im not discounting the luck part but overall, you have to give credit when there is success.

Don't get me wrong, it was a great move that definitely panned out, I just don't necessarily think it was done to get tougher etc.

I am also willing to bet he saw that Huberdeau is a giant bitch who can't do shit under pressure and it was good to get value there.
Hubie sure looked good when he was at union college but in the pros not so much. Bust? Locker room cancer? Uncoachable?
Him and ol daryl must have been a match made in pure hell

What defines an elite level regular season?
Winning a division maybe? And just to clarify, I don’t care about the regular season stats per se, but finishing higher in the standings gives you the best shot at winning the cup. All this “it doesn’t matter who you play” is BS. How many top seeds have won the cup? How many bottom seeds?

And Calgary's GM was widely called smart for the same trade. At least prior to the contract extensions.

The Panthers improved for playoff hockey, and then needed Pit to insanely lose to both Clb and Chi to make the playoffs. I believe that same GM traded away Fla's future at the deadline last year, for one mega run, which lasted a round. Then the team went into a cap crunch, and still had a 34 year old $10m goalie. And, hired a recycled loser coach, who I think volunteered to quit in Winnipeg.

You win, you win. However, at no point since this time last year, did anyone have Florida in the 2023 Final.

Not sure what your point is here...they won presidents year before and swapped out 2 good players for one great one - who repeated his 100 pt season. Seems like a team that was in the mix - that struggled due to many factors like goaltending.

Agreed. The biggest surprise about Florida was how much they struggled during the regular season this year. They arguably were THE biggest disappointing team performance wise with all the expectations coming into the season and coming off their #1 the year before.

He had 10 points in 12 playoff games last season. I question the judgment of anyone who would say that.

If you watched him play last year and the years before you'd understand how he got that label . Sure he got 10 points in 12, but vs DAL 1g 5a in 6 games, then vs EDM 3 goals in game 1, no goals the rest of the way and 1 assist in the last 5 games. He played timid and looked like he was affraid to do anything stupid. Maybe he's grown up this year, or maybe he's just on a heater right now. Still think he's a dick.
