Am I the only one who thinks Miller is the better player? Horvat is a good player, but he's riding a ridiculously unsustainable 21.7% shooting percentage, and his career high is 61 points. Miller had 99 points last season while Horvat had 52 on the same team. I'd be terrified of that Horvat contract as I feel they are paying UFA PPG player market value for what's very likely a 60 point player on a hot shooting streak
There are a lot of articles about Miller's loud and toxic personality which document years of him being a trash teammate. On top of yelling and slamming his stick at Delia for not getting out of the net fast enough, he was also admonishing Lundqvist openly on the ice. He was traded shortly after, too.

It's not about the skill of the players. It's about the quality of the players. I choose Horvat 10/10 times, regardless of position.

he's the better offensive player but he's also a lot older and a bit of a shithead

Bo can play great two way hockey and character beyond reproach

It's an easy call for me, there's a reason even great teams like TBL / NYR were done with miller in short order

Those teams never got a 99pt season out of him though.

Jesus Chychrun with both goals for ARI tonight against Minny.

2 laser beams.

Naw, we don't need anyone doing that....he's shit....didn't get the memo?

Everyone saying he's not what we need, he's shit, would be the first one dropping their pants if they could get him for a 1st and Grans.....

He's playing great, but if the ask was a 1st and Grans he'd be here already. If it's a 1st and a prospect, they wouldn't budge off Clarke or Byfield.

The same two factors influence a potential trade for Chychrun that were there 6 months ago. The ask is too high and he's been made of glass so far in his career.

The 'rumour' asking price would be 1st, 1st, Grans. And I don't think anyone disputes his scoring prowess - hell he lights the lamp almost every time they play LA.

It's his substantial injury history - in his rookie season he had surgery to repair a ligament in his left shoulder. He then tore the meniscus in his left knee after his first season and a torn ACL in his right knee the year after that.

3/12/22 Wrist
12/11/21 Upper Body
3/27/21 Undisclosed
2/21/20 Lower Body
2/8/19 Lower Body
2/2/19 Lower body
4/4/18 Lower-body injury
1/18/18 Illness
10/3/17 Knee

With that said he's a goddamn gym freak.

How can someone be so built and so damn fragile. Drink some milk, jesus.

There's a lot to not like about Trouba's hitting but that one on Kadri was absolutely picture perfect, so good. Whole game was rad. did not expect it.

Kardi was lucky he didn't hit his head on the ice. Not that there's much to protect up there, but... Hell of a hit.

Another one. Win/win for everyone involved. Although I wonder which side wanted 7 vs 8 years.

I got to admit, I wasn’t sold on Cozens, maybe PTSD from all the bad Taylor “power forward” picks, but he’s a player.

Expect similar deals from Zegras and Caufield this summer.

Lol that’s so weird. He must be really bummed to text Bedard after losses.

Anaheim is going to get the 2nd pick...again, just like in the Crosby draft! The next Bobby Ryan will be playing with their Prima Donna. McTavish will send him a follow up text that says , "sorry, we tried. good luck in Chicago"

A 1st and Grans gets you a courtesy call back. another 1st , a top prospect, plus another mid level prospect keep them from telling you to f-off...politely of course.

at that price, you better get a guy who can play at least 75 games. I don;t want the Gaborik of defensemen missing 20 games a year because the organic goats milk he gets from the Himalayas doesn't have enough protein and calcium.

Even I’d probably take him at that price, even if he isn’t the type of player we need. The problem is that that’s not the price.

It is a bit amusing that the fans who complain about the 8 year contracts going to age 35-36 also don’t like the 8 year deals guys sign at 22 because they supposedly haven’t proven enough.

I still think the 3 year ELC into the 8 year deal is the best for everyone involved when it comes to higher end guys.
I like them, they just have to be for the right player. I had no problem with Dean giving Kopitar a 6-year deal on his second contract, and wished it was 10 years. That way there may not have been a third contract.

It is a bit of a crap shoot. I don't see a young player on the Kings current roster I would want to see get an 8-year deal.

No doubt on the talent and the need for LHD. I don't care that he is not a big bruiser.
What concerns me is the injury history and the asking price. It sure sounds like 1st + Grans would not be enough

Hot take, but I wish the NHL went to shorter terms and lowered UFA age. Max 5 year extensions (if re-signing, 4 if UFA), and UFA age at 26.

This would drive a LOT of roster movement around the league and make for a more exciting, unpredictable product year to year.

The NHL as it stands now gets by on the strength of the sport alone. Most of the teams around the league are completely frozen by the hard cap, and it makes things boring as hell.

Either do something like a franchise tag, or reduce contract terms.
