Wow, incredible deal for the Canes.
Dubas would have given Svech at least $13-14m per year and just for 5 years.

Nylander ppg was overstated due to not playing in the NHL in 2015 and most of 2016. While Svechnikov made it right away as a D+1 playerInteresting...
Svech after 3 years, 205 games, 140 points. 0.68 PPG 9.51% of the cap
Nylander at time of signing - 185 games, 135 points 0.72 PPG 8.76% of the cap
Marner at time of signing 241 games, 224 points 0.93 PPG 13.38% of cap.
Both Nylander and Marner had outperformed Svech, at the time of their contract signings.... Marner significantly so. Marner is overpaid, probably by $1.5 million. The Svech contract is pretty in line with Nylander's, given it's eight years though.

Svechnikov was considerably better than Nylander on his ELC but worse than Marner
His 8 year term is incredible for the Canes as we saw how none of our 3 guys gave us term beyond 6 years all while having very high AAV
Marner should be making 9.25x8 he's about 1.5M better than Svechnikov and Nylander should be on a 7x8 deal if we want to make his deal fair with Svechnikovs
Hey came into the league 2 years younger than Nylander. His role in his D+1 was that of a 3rd line player getting 14ish minutes a night, he made an impact for the Canes as a 18 year old which Nylander wasn't able to do on the leafs. The eight year term certainly is great for the Canes, win there.
You aren't far off on Marner... the mathematical models had him at $9.4 mil... as I said about $1.5 overpayment, but should have been eight years, not six... agreed.
I'm not sure how Svech was "considerably better" than Nylander on his ELC.. explain?
Canes might have the best cap situation in the league other than the Lightning. They refused to fix their goaltending once again though, despite having the funds.
If they had a problem in goal, it might now be our problem. No ??
I'm not big on Mrazek or his contract. There were several available goalies I would've preferred. Hoping he'll leave me pleasantly surprised though.
Pretty consistent with his comparable on the Leafs (Nylander).Svech signs with Carolina for $7.75M. Must be nice to have young stars that don't gouge you, lol.
Aho and Teravainen were his #1 and #3 most common linemates through both his ELC and in that specific year, for the record. He didn't play with Aho or TT.
8 years...Pretty consistent with his comparable on the Leafs (Nylander).
Your right, thought he played with J.Staal on his ELC a lot more than he did. Makes the deal more comparable with Nylander though they managed to get 2 more years of additional term which we didn't.Aho and Teravainen were his #1 and #3 most common linemates through both his ELC and in that specific year, for the record.
Nylander got 6 years. He was a bit better over his ELC. Nylander got 8.76% for 6 years. Svechnikov got 9.51% for 8 years. Pretty consistent.8 years...
The leafs only get 5 of Nyalnder (as the first "semi" year didn't even count as he was a disgrace of a player after missing camp/preseason).
Nylander was only "better" over elc if you include Svech's rookie year where Nylander could barely even crack the nhl.Nylander got 6 years. He was a bit better over his ELC. Nylander got 8.76% for 6 years. Svechnikov got 9.51% for 8 years. Pretty consistent.
Sean Couterier signs for 8 years 7.75M. Damn that's tough to see. I don't know if Tavares is a better player than Couterier at this point and if so he isn't 3.25M better
The flyers got a really good deal
Will be very good for 5 years. The flyers really need to find a way to contend yearly and stop having down years. That is an amazing deal for the Flyers. Couts got well under market value there.

You can't just remove seasons you don't like. You can bump up and down a bit based on age, linemate quality, and league-wide scoring levels, but overall it essentially offsets. You're left with Nylander being a bit better over his ELC, and Nylander getting 8.76% for 6 years while Svechnikov gets 9.51% for 8 years. Pretty consistent.Nylander was only "better" over elc if you include Svech's rookie year
That Couturier contract also takes him to age 37, for the record.
So Nylander not being good enough to have a full nhl rookie year earns him MORE money. And Svechnikov being good enough to have full nhl rooki year LOSES him money. You can't just remove seasons you don't like. Oh, the Flyers are definitely thinking shorter term. They did it to help lower his cap hit during potential contending years. I doubt Boston regrets signing Bergeron, but not sure that's really the common progression path, and Bergeron has been sheltered quite a bit offensively by having Marchand and Pastrnak stuck to his hip in recent years.Hard to predict how that plays out, but I'm guessing the Flyers are thinking shorter term... of course Courturier's closest NHL comparable is Bergeron, who signed an eight year deal, just before his 28th birthday, that will expire when he's 36, nearly 37. 10.69% of cap hit, while Couts is 9.51%... I doubt anyone in the Bruins organization regrets signing Bergeron to a very similar deal, at a very similar age.

Svechnikov in his D+2 had as good a season as Nylander in his D+6 season with 61 in 68 and he did this without having a Matthews level linemate. He didn't play with Aho or TT. He was 3rd on the Canes in points
D+3 has 42 in 55. A bit of a down regular season but once again is a top 3 producer for the Canes. Nylander in 2017 and 2018 was not as important to the leafs despite being older.
Svechnikov was able to adjust tonthe NHL faster than Nylander, was able to impact the game for his team at a higher level with worse linemates, and was a better playoff producer than Nylander with 20 in 26 vs nylander who had 11 in his first 20
Nylander if being compared to Svechnikov should have gotten what he did on a 8 year deal not 6 year
6.96 x 8 vs 7.75 x 8 would have been fair deals for both players coming off of their ELCs
Nylander getting 2 less years makes the deal worse than Svechnikovs
