The fact that he is the cover of NHL series again shows he loves being a Leafs and the spotlight. I don't even think McDavid been the cover twice yet.

It wouldn't surprise me if there is a rotation of Leaf players on the cover.... what North American market buys the most copies of EA's NHL games? I have a pretty good feeling it's not Edmonton.

Should be a pretty good team, and well worth watching some of their games.

Crazy Stacked team for sure. If people cared more about NCAA hockey we could have had some crazy takes overhyping the team. Like in the NBA where people said the 2016 Knetucky Wildcats vs the 1996 Bulls

They should win most games pretty easily with so much talent

Power is easily good enough to be in the NHL.

I bet he just doesn't want to play for the Sabres, they are going to be a tire fire again this year especially if Eichel gets traded or keeps pouting.

Matthews is pretty much the only Leafs that made it to the cover of NHL series for the past 15 years or so. Think Willie only made it for the Sweden Version.
Usually it is either the MVP the season before the best player on the Cup Team.

I think he looks at Dahlin and see whats going on with his career and don't want to make the same mistakes.

What happened was Sabres coaches (who have since been fired) tried to turn him into a stay at home when his raw skills are closer to the next Erik Karlsson. I still remember him at the U20 as a 16 and 17 year old, guy was unbelievable.

Brandon Prust seems nice

I’m really lost with all this talk about Florida. I’ve seen them listed as a top 4 contender, but on paper I see them being worse than Toronto. Seems like people are really buying into a lot of guys replicating their career years. Maybe I’m way off here (and someone please enlighten me if I am), but I just don’t see.

72 wins over the last two regular seasons, Leafs have 71. They've been decent the last two years. It's not a team you can discount, they play hard, all the time.

Not saying they should be taken lightly but saying they are comparable to the Leafs doesn't exactly scream legitimate contender either.

A lot of players overachieved for them last year, you have to expect some regression from at least a few players. The big question for them is in Goal, Driedger was incredible for them and he's gone, meanwhile Bobrovky was terrible 2 years ago and mediocre last year. Knight is promising but unproven obviously and he needs to play at an elite level just to replace what they lost in Driedger. If Bob plays like he did last season and Knight falters they will likely miss the playoffs. If Bob plays like he did 2 years ago and Knight falters they are probably a lottery team. On the flip side, if they play great, and they do have that upside, they are a going to be a good team.

Much like the Leafs, too many question marks for me to view Florida as a preseason contender.

Marner's contract is a joke. Dubas got to be the worst negotiator in the league lol. How in the world does Marner get an extra 3.15 million over Svech?
Because Marner is the better player.

I don’t think he’s 3.15 mil better, but he’s better. Marner signed when the cap was expected to increase, not a flat cap.

Svech signs with Carolina for $7.75M. Must be nice to have young stars that don't gouge you, lol.

Interesting...

Svech after 3 years, 205 games, 140 points. 0.68 PPG 9.51% of the cap
Nylander at time of signing - 185 games, 135 points 0.72 PPG 8.76% of the cap
Marner at time of signing 241 games, 224 points 0.93 PPG 13.38% of cap.

Both Nylander and Marner had outperformed Svech, at the time of their contract signings.... Marner significantly so. Marner is overpaid, probably by $1.5 million. The Svech contract is pretty in line with Nylander's, given it's eight years though.
