So is Stone going on LTIR like's been rumored?

EDIT: Yes, he is. How convenient.

Apparently, Stone’s been seen by 6 specialists across the country since his back began to bother him last year in the playoffs. He’s only played 28 games this year and they’ve allegedly been, “Trying to manage it” but they thought their heavy March schedule would be too much and he wouldn’t get through it. If he isn’t able to get through March but is able to get through the Playoff grind, then there is going to be an issue with many executives in the West. It would be one thing if this occurred this season because you could use the excuse that he needed the 6ish weeks to get fixed, but this has been occurring since last June. If summer didn’t right it, I doubt these next few months will.

I have a slight issue with this being a lingering thing yet he chose to play in the ASG anyways. I get he was at home and the ASG is light work, but regardless, if you’re playing in that game with any type of injury, that’s just plain foolish.

Edit - This is different IMO than Kucherov. He didn’t play a minute in the regular season last year.

You just know that his back will be miraculously "cured" come Game 1 of the playoffs.

thats too much for a rental. would i do a 1st and a b prospect? yes. But youre trading our most nhl ready defensive prospect, a young nhl playing 4th liner (which we will need the next 3 years) and adding a 1st and 5th. Thats overkill

We have Dumba + Spurgeon for next season, and then Lambos, Hunt and O'Rourke coming up. One of them can play off-hand. Merill is also signed long term. Next season, only Goligoski and Benn are up for contracts and then Dumba and Kulikov after that. Getting a depth defenseman isn't going to be that hard. More so, Addison hasn't been able to break into the lineup that has consisted of Benn and Merrill.

As for the 4th liner; we're already have trouble finding a regular spot for Dewar, who is up for a contract at the end of this season. Keep Duhaime, keep Sturm mix in Shaw, Giroux, and McBain (if we sign). Not to mention Pillar will need to be signed, along with Hentges.

It's a late 1st, a RFA, a B prospect in Addison and a 5th. I don't consider that breaking the bank.

My concern is going to be a 1st, 3rd and a prospect like O'Rourke or Khus.

just because a player CAN play their offside, it doesnt mean they should. We have a glut of LD, any trade of a defensemen needs to come from that position.

I'd rather give up Addison than O'Rourke, Hunt and Lambos at this point, handiness be damned. Peart is debatable.

I would rather have Addison over Hunt.

Eh, I think Hunt at this point is a bit different than Addison. I'm concerned that Addison is going to be a poor version of Dumba without the physical nature. Hunt at least maybe a poor version of Dumba but has the physical (and the ability to get under his opponent's skin)

I don't see the Addison/Dumba comparison. Their games, playstyle, or build are nothing alike.

its the whole known vs unknown argument. we know some of those players are trending to be very good. We dont have any idea who we are picking with those picks.

Correct. Its also more likely than not that at least one or more of these defensive prospects will not live up to expectations. Guerin needs to be extremely careful about which prospects are included in any deals for a rental.

Pavelski with points on all 4 goals. Doesn't the guy age? He always seemed like one of those guys who played like a 35 yo when he was in his 20's, and now he's playing like a 25 yo in his 30's.

So say the Vegas team doctors decide to clear Mark Stone unexpectedly with two weeks left in the season (after the trade deadline), and they didn't clear any space at the deadline. Of course that'll never happen...

Is there a scenario where they literally couldn't become cap compliant? Would they send a bunch of players to the minors every day without a game? Or what else could they do at that point?

Even if they planned it out this year to work, the hypothetical question still stands.

i would imagine theyd have to put players through waivers and give them up for free or forfeit games.

In my mind im still wondering if theyll make playoffs this year. They are kinda on the bubble currently and a few teams below them have games in hand.
