It's that classic success story

Consumers: Hey, there's a kind of annoying issue with your product that makes it less enjoyable.
Business: lol like you can go anywhere else for this service/product.
Consumers: But like many of us find this to make it less fun overall.
Business: What are you going to do? Stop consuming? LAWLZ!

FIFY

Finding something "annoying" =/= "cheating".

People are claiming teams are cheating by "falsely" using LTIR to stash cap. That has not happened.
I mean the NHL amended the rules regarding long term contracts due to Parise and Suter. They can change or tweak things if they feel like it goes against the spirit of the CBA.

Some of the LTIR seems...fishy.

Also; does anyone remember how much the NHL screwed over the Wild with Kaprizov because they could? There was no precedent, they just decided to arbitrarily change the rules.

Not aware. Continue...

If you think that's the same, I've got news for you. The NHL felt that was wrong, many players agreed. Thus they were able to negotiate a solution in the next CBA.

The NHL has consistently said they see no problem.
The NHLPA hasn't even said a peep about this being a problem.

There is zero motive for either side to want to change at this point other than "fan bitching" at most.

The NHLPA won't say a peep about it, because their players are getting paid regardless and they are there to protect the players.

I think the NHL has some merit to look into this, because every player in this league is banged up in some manner or fashion. It's pretty easy to look at a player and go yep, he's going to be stashed on the LTIR.

The easiest way is to set rosters; if a player is on LTIR come playoffs, then they can't be on the active roster.

They have and as I posted earlier, have said they see no problem with the current rules. They said it isn't broken.

If Wild sign Meyers, will he become a RFA after next season? Is it a 2-year ELC with the first year being burned immediately?

The reporting I saw (Elliot Friedman, Ben Rosen, and EJ Hradik) was that the owners want to close the LTIR "loophole", but tabled the discussion because it won't go anywhere without the NHLPA signing off on it.

Here's what I saw reported...

“And the league does a very good job; you can’t just put somebody on LTI and add to your cap without the league going through that with a fine-tooth comb. There’s been legitimate injuries. The way the system’s set up, you can do certain things. I don’t necessary look at it as abusive. Are there areas that need to be tightened up? Maybe. But the sentiment in the room there wasn’t that it’s fundamentally broken.”
And it’s not as if they—or any other team—are lying about the injuries.
“It’s no secret that around every trade deadline we reach out to the clubs and understand their injury situation and get a sense of projected dates of return,” deputy commissioner Bill Daly said on Tuesday. “And whenever the projected date of return and LTIR is being used and the projected date of return is around the playoffs, we look into it. We deal with the clubs, we get their medical records, we employ an independent medical expert and we make sure the (details are accurate regarding) the injury. We’ve never had any issues that stemmed from that. But it’s a thorough process.”

Confirmed with Keller, broken femur...

Wish him the best in his long recovery.

Head coach André Tourigny said Keller suffered a broken femur, or thighbone. He said he visited with Keller in the hospital Thursday morning and that Keller was in good spirits.
"He was smiling, positive, talking about the pain was way less now," Tourigny said. "The first thing is he's a human being. Seeing him (Thursday) morning, being as close as can be to normal, I guess, I think that was the first step for us moving forward. The second thing, the surgeon and our medical staff think it was really successful and they're really happy about the results, so that as well is a positive.

Defrinaterly would be a main board thread is it was a Wild player that just made that hot on Hughes

What kind of lineup would Vegas be able to bring if they squeak in? I’d love to see them play Avs in Round 1 with close to a full lineup

RIP Mike Bossy. Might be one of the most underrated goal scorers of the modern era (probably due to only playing 10 seasons). 9 straight seasons with 50+ goals is just crazy.

Not yet he hasn't, source was deleted, others confirmed they've talked with him today.

Don't I feel like the horse's ass! I saw it on the main board and assumed it was true.
