Dumbass should have said no comment. Can't believe he compared the Kane investigation to the cheating rumors from last year.

Would have been better off saying something like hockey is only a game and what goes on in the real world is far more important.

He could have supported Kane by saying he thinks he is an honest guy (even if he doesn't believe it) and just said whatever happens the guys that are on the team will defend the title.

So the Erie County D.A. punted it to the grand jury. Figures.

Overhead at the local zoo, from a five-year-old kid:

"Look mama! A political animal!"

Thanks for the link Ron. Had trouble posting it on my phone

No problem. Thanks for alert.

Reading the story, it's an interesting development. It means the case is going forward on Kane. I disagree that the grand jury could take months to resolve the matter.

If this was handled correctly (and I have no way of knowing), it means that the D.A. knows the results of the lab tests at this time, and will have an authority from the lab provide testimony to the grand jury as well.

And my comment above about the D.A. being a political animal: I believe if this was your normal joe wearing a wife beater A-shirt, he would have already been arrested and charged with rape (if the lab tests came back conclusive + witness testimony). But since Kane is high profile, the D.A. punts it to the grand jury to indict or "no true bill" the matter. That way, he can always point to the grand jury and said they were the ones who investigated and decided on the matter, and he is only following the wishes of the grand jury by prosecuting Kane or not pursuing the issue, respectively.

And yet the thread has not been re-opened with new developments.

everyone is too busy defending Toews the golden boy for his fantastic leadership skills in his incredibly wise speech to the media

the guy asking the question literally says "I won't ask you to comment on anything like that" and then Toews in his infinite wisdom immediately decides to comment on it, which really just makes him seem really goddamn thick in the head.

but you know, Blackhawks, pride of the hockey world, I must be jealous or a "hater", etc.

There are seven remaining unsigned RFAs: Ferland (CGY), Kruger (CHI), Elliott & Hamilton (COL), Huberdeau (FLA), Nelson (NYI), Albert (WPG)

Huberdeau surprises me a bit, thought the Cats would have him inked by now.

As for Kruger, after signing forward Nordstrom to 605K, they are now 400K over...Stan Bowman needs to keep peckin' at the abacus and dialing GM's for trade partners...

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2015/09/02/blackhawks-sign-nordstrom-to-a-one-year-deal/

According to Generalfanager.com, the Blackhawks had $231, 540 in cap space available prior to the Nordstrom signing. Marcus Kruger remains the lone Blackhawks’ restricted free agent unsigned.

Justin Wiliams taking the ice in his new uniform...looks funny seeing him wearing Caps colors.

Some of the Wash. Post articles said they felt Trotz would put him in the 1st line with Ovie and Backstrom but more recent articles suggested he might be with Kuznetsov and Marcus Johannson on the 2nd line.
And a part of the PP unit as well.
I am looking forward to seeing him succeed and hopefully be a difference maker in the playoffs.

Caps note - Ovie needs 25 goals to hit 500. That's impressive.

lost all respect for him. He should have done exactly that and saying that 'we' don't let anything going on, on the outside affect the way they come to work and do their jobs...

the entire statement is really a poor choice on his part.

I see nothing wrong with his choice of words. He in effect is saying he's standing by his friend and teammate until there is evidence to give good reason not to. Why is that so wrong?

I'm not saying Kane is innocent, and given this isn't his first brush with the law I assume he's likely not prone to the wisest of choices to begin with, but there's innocent until proven guilty for a reason and I find it odd people want to jump down his throat for in effect saying just that.

And yet the thread has not been re-opened with new developments.

So who reopens it? Only the mod that closed it? I ask because you are a mod and you seem to be scratching your head the same as we are over it not being reopened.

If you read the question again, when the reporter/interviewer says "I won't ask you to comment on anything like that" its obvious he's referring specifically to Kane. The question he poised to Toews was if incidents like this impact how you interact with the media and your teammates. That's the question he was answering and was asked to answer.

People jumping down Toews throat over that comment... then they get upset when athletes only give cookie cutter answers the other 99 per cent of the time. No wonder these athletes rarely speak off the cuff any more.

I think we would have to see Kane indicted, convicted, and sentenced to death before that thread ever gets reopened.

And then it's only 50/50.

Self-fulfilling prophecy. He sounds like a moron here. So yes, he needs to go back to cookie-cutter answers.

This is a rape investigation about a player with a history of violence and aggressive behavior. This isn't some locker room drama/trade rumors/coaching issues that can be put to rest with generic answers. Please don't compare them against a rape investigation.

I see the main board is hopeless. Just disgusting reading some of the comments.

"But Toews doesn't want to turn his back on his BFF! " So much face palm.

I'll never understand how posters from our board can spend so much time and energy posting there. Who gives a flying ****? Why waste time posting a thought out response to only get an emoticon answer?

he sounds like someone waiting for all the details to come out before jumping down his teammates throat. Isn't that what many of us called for with Voynov from fans/posters? You'd expect at least as much from your own co-worker/real life friend.

I didn't compare, I said the reactions to his statement are why athletes only give cookie cutter answers.

I agree. Never going back there. I've actually done that...post well-formulated responses and get 3rd grade answers. Absolute waste of time and effort.

Yep, I rarely go back there. But rest assured if the Kings win it again this upcoming season, I'm going to unleash a fury rarely seen in the annals of HFBoards!

The thing you have to remember about that place is there's an 80% chance you're talking to a kid between the age of 8-16, and a 90% chance that he or she is in the middle of having a fresh litter.
