Thank goodness we don't play the Sens though cuz it's a guarantee 2 game sweep for them. ;)

Speaking 0f idiots...there is Evander Kane

Big Update On Evander Kane's Bankruptcy Filing - NHL Rumors - NHLTradeRumors.Me

Kane listed $10 million of assets and liabilities of $27 million, making his net worth negative $17 million. He owns $8000 worth of handguns, shotguns, and rifles and has taken out second mortgage on at least two properties in B.C. Additionally, his monthly expenses are $93,000 and include 7 dependents.
uhhh

are people not allowed to have legal hobbies? that could be like, less than 5 guns... makes for a good headline though.

Yikes. 7 dependents with that much debt is gonna be a killer. I remember seeing him on some stupid Barstool vid while he was in Vegas, was flashing cash like it was nothing.

Just watched the highlight...it was a nice shot, but settle down Beavis.

It was pretty f***ing beautiful live. Also, my point about him being electric was more about how it came about. There was nothing at all happening on the powerplay and out of nowhere he streaked in and ripped it. It definitely was electric, but maybe that didn't come across in the highlights.

Ok, so I'm really dumb when it comes to the concept of waivers, but what does it mean when a player clears? Does that mean no one wants him and that the Rangers can terminate the contract, but still eat the cap space for the contract?

They can assign him to the taxi squad/AHL. If they do so, they take a small chunk (about $1 million) of cap relief.

Or they can buy out his contract in the offseason.

The window to buy out a contract is in the offseason (normally the later of June 15 or 48 hours after the Cup is awarded). The contract could be mutually terminated but it's unlikely that DeAngelo would willingly give up the money. The Rangers could try to terminate the deal but they'd need to find a cause for breach of contract. I was still slowly waking up and listening to the Elliotte Friedman podcast this morning and I think he said his sources said that the Rangers finding a valid reason to legally terminate under the CBA was unlikely. Sounded like DeAngelo would be told to stay away from the team while they sort out the situation.

Since DeAngelo would be under 26 this offseason, a buyout would only cost 1/3 of the remaining deal rather than the usual 2/3.

not surprising, be interesting to see what the Rangers do with him now

Assign him to Hartford as a paper transaction. He likely doesn't play there and the Rangers try to find a way he could be found in breach of contract so they can terminate him. That's my guess.

PA would likely take issue but could see it playing out this way
