I specifically used the term "somewhat". Of course Abby is an adult and responsible for her actions. But if you think that the same "grooming tactics" that some scumbag might use on a teenager won't work on some young adults, I don't think you're being realistic. Doesn't totally excuse Abby's behavior, but I see a difference between someone who is open to an extracurricular affair and someone who is targeted and pursued by someone who is skilled at "seduction" (or "grooming", dependant on whether aimed at an adult or a minor). You may not distinguish between the two cases, and if so, we'll just have to agree to disagree on the matter.

As an aside, I'm glad that most here are qualifying with the phrase "if true". In this day and age too many are too quick to convict at the drop of a hat. Having said that, if true . . .

I don't recall that, but that doesn't mean anything, I could have missed it. Note that I'm not suggesting any particular narrative, just putting a possibility out there in light of the recent developments. I agree that it's all speculation at this point.

Yeah, there were also credible rumblings that she was bonking Svech and perhaps other players as well. We'll never know all of it, nor should we, but I don't think it's reasonable to play her as a victim of grooming and manipulation here. I think she was just horny and stupid, and Cole approaching her provided an outlet.

It's the truth that the fallout of one player's sick and, from what it sounds like, criminal behavior will lead to opportunities for other people like Haydn Fleury that, by all accounts, do the right thing in our society. I don't think that there's anything wrong about mentioning that fact. I also mention Tampa Bay because I truly don't think that they signed that guy with any knowledge of this. And what of it if she was having relations with Svech? Outside of the fact she was engaged, I really just don't see the scandal that people were trying to make it out to be. Every company I've ever worked for has had co-workers who met on the job and eventually got married, and as long as it didn't impact their work, nobody gave a shit and were actively happy for them.

The point I was trying to make is that if it's true that she did, it's probably not appropriate framing of her "relationship" with Ian Cole to speculate that she was "groomed" in a similar way, when we have proof of concept elsewhere that it doesn't take a seducer to screw up her engagement.
