The only problem I have with our bye week is playing a team that has been playing a bunch when we get back. I thought when they switched from every team having random bye weeks to all teams having them within the same short period it was to get rid of rusty teams getting waxed by teams that had been playing. As we've seen, the Canes can overcome plenty of adversity, but it's gonna be challenging.

VLADIMIR TARASENKO

After the New York Islanders made a swing and traded for center Bo Horvat, their local rivals didn't wait a lot longer to pull the trigger on a big deal of their own. The New York Rangers acquired goal-scoring winger Vladimir Tarasenko and defenseman Niko Mikkola from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a package that included multiple pieces.

The Blues, who drafted Tarasenko in the first round in 2010 and had him as part of their Stanley Cup winning team in 2019, received winger Sammy Blais, defense prospect Hunter Skinner, a conditional 2023 first-round draft pick and a 2024 fourth-round draft pick. According to CapFriendly, the condition on the first-round pick is that it will be the later of New York's two first-rounders as they also own Dallas's first-round pick from an earlier trade.

Over a career that spans 11 seasons (with at least 1 NHL GP), he has a total 553 Pts in 644 GP, and 60 playoffs Pts in 90 GP. He will be a UFA at the end of the 2022-23 season when he is 31 years old.

On the plus side they do get the Rangers on the back end of a back to back with travel. So don't lose the game in the first period and they should be alright.

Bo Knows Scoring!!

That play right there shows you why Rod wants man-on-man defense at even strength. I'm sure there are times when zone D looks good, but it looked like ass here.

Beauvilier made little effort to get out to Barzal, and continued to mark him even after the defenseman (#44) switched onto him. You can even see Stillman on the other side about to switch off of his man onto Barzal if he came around the net. Chaos resulting from the simple circular movement of the puck around the outside of the zone.

Yeah, I agree with TRPF here more than Bleed. (never thought I'd say that...ha ha). Fans hated the signing but quickly forgot about that and the majority of fans were just fine with him. It was a small minority that held a grudge. We saw it on this board as well. Rod loved him. it was simply a case of he could make more elsewhere.

As far as picking out stats/playoff performances, we all do that. Look at how you(Bleed) commented about TT's playoff performance. many hold a grudge against Dougie for ducking Ovi's check. Many comments about Nino being invisible in the playoffs, etc.. That's no unique to TDA.

re playoff grudges...

I think it's only fair to hold the guys making the big $$ the most responsible.

A lot of guys who were role players for us and made less had their moments over the past few seasons. McGinn, Foegele, McKegg, Raanta, Domi, and honorable mention to Ferland

Some of the bigger money dmen like Slavin and Skjei were fantastic. Staal was great in his role.

Did TDA disappoint some...yeah...but do I really care? no! The guy made up an infinitesimally tiny piece of the cap.

Did Nino kinda suck? Yeah...but he's a middle 6 forward those things happen.

Aho was pretty good....but honestly he needs to do a little more (not too much) the real person who has avoided all the criticism and is our highest drafted player is Svech. He's had a few moments....but man he can disappear and that is not what you need from your franchise player.

In some form of evening it out the Rags will be on B2B's with travel.

Just saw CU11's post, what they said!

You've hereby been anointed the new "BBA wet blanket" official. Use your power wisely.

He still needs your mentorship and grooming to reach his full potential.

I'm willing to bet Carolina's front office disagrees with your assessment.

I want to put your feet to the fire...what contract do you think the FO would've offered TDA?

Eric Staal has started playing decent hockey again. 11pts in his last 14 games. Makes me think he might have one more year in the NHL left. I wonder if Jordan Staal chases the opportunity to play with his brothers for one season down in Florida next year, with Marc Staal being there too.

Svech was absolutely terrible last year's playoffs after the Lindholm hit for some reason. Up to the hit he was playing great, the hit was huge and set the tone for the series and then after that he just disappeared. If he wasn't invisible against the Rags I think we easily win that series. Completely agree that he needs to start stepping up in the playoffs.

Usage is key. DeAngelo is a very good player with particular flaws that get magnified on bad teams. Philly simply lacks the supporting cast to make DeAngelo effective.
I thought Provorov was supposed to be unreal. Guess not.
Oh I absolutely agree him not being here came down to being worth more to someone else, we weren’t going to pay him to play third pair and we all knew he was miscast as a first pair guy the whole time. He stepped up and made it work. A lot of people came around with him for sure. The people I would be referring to are a minority but a vocal one, and when dismissive talk about Tony comes out now I see some interesting stuff that’s not worth talking about. Also my original point was whenever the TDA defense comes up there’s an overly strong leaning on Slavin carrying him and the rest of the team making him look good, which is a disservice to how hard the guy worked here. He did it right for us.
I don’t think it’s doing a disservice to him about his work ethic or doing what he was asked here. He did his job here. But when you have one year in your entire career that you look serviceable defensively by both the eye test and advanced metrics, it’s probably because you aren’t very good defensively.
