Guys I think the dream of the division title is dead.
You're far more optimistic than I am. Division title was out of reach for me since the new year. The only team that seems to be losing every now and again is Seattle. Since the AS break, LA is 10-2-2, Vegas is 12-2-2, Seattle is 8-7-2. The Oilers are 8-5-4. They might catch Seattle but even 2nd is getting to be unlikely.

Ottawa taking tonight off it seems.

If we had even a semblance of goaltending....

Finishing in the WC should be unacceptable but I wonder if facing Dallas is really all that bad.

It's amazing how shitty the OOT scoreboard has been the last couple of weeks. None of these teams lose and when they do, it's either in OT or shootout (like L.A./Nashville last night in particular).

It doesn't matter because the Oilers need to just focus on winning games but it doesn't make it any less annoying.

It doesn't really matter. All these opponents are pretty similar level and home ice doesn't mean much. Just get into the dance and go from there.

It'd be nice to face Seattle but sadly that isn't going to happen.

NHL wanted to Vegas to win and they are doing anything they can to make sure they do. Same for Seattle & LA.

like 3 days ago, the Jets were gonna choke away a playoff spot to the Flames, now they're gonna run down the Oilers...lol

hilarious
NHL wanted this and they are getting it. NHL wants to control who goes into the playoffs for marketing purposes as well to please ESPN/TNT. You really think those two networks enjoy coming up here? no.

Predicting a 7 game losing streak and we'll be in the outside looking in.

LA hasn't gotten goaltending either but they smother and choke the shit out of teams.
I think the Oilers would beat Vegas in a 7 game series so if they dropped to second and Oilers leap frogged Seattle, I'd be okay with that. Dallas would be tough but beatable.

I just don't know or think Winnipeg could beat LA. Helleybuck would have to steal it so if the Oilers escape round 1, they're probably playing LA somewhere along the way. But, they gotta get there first. I think 8-10 more wins will do it.

If they finish in the WC, it's likely Dallas or Vegas. Neither seem scary at all to me. WC, win division, 2nd or 3rd. Meh, it doesn't matter much. Just get in and anything can happen.

The bottom line is that this was a good team before and they now added a top pairing D and 3rd/4th line C so the Oilers are at the point where they shouldn't be scared to play anybody whereas in the past, there seemed to be a ceiling on how far they could go.

Dallas doesn't scare me even with Ottengir.

This team has the potential to go far in the playoffs but it really comes down to what kind of goaltending they get. They don't even need elite goaltending, just passable and they can outscore anyone.

No team we are fighting for spots seems to want to gift away a bunch of goals like we do. Annoying

It’s odd but I’m of the mindset that I don’t really care who we play. I think we have a team that can beat anyone. The only one that gives me a little pause is LA because they have a grudge.

Otherwise no point thinking too much. Just get in and see where the chips fall
