Leafs should pounce on Kreider while the Rangers are going through some dysfunction. He scores goals and continues to score them in the playoffs.

Rangers did well to unload Trouba, only to sign Igor to an albatross of a contract. Why? That contract won't age well.

Their fans absolutely hate Drury right now, and rightfully so
I'm not sure they realistically had much choice when it came to Shesterkin. Like the Leafs with Marner, the Rangers couldn't let Shesterkin walk, and it's not like the guy was going to sign a 3 year deal.

I don't know how to feel about that.

On one hand, definitely a wee bit underhanded and definitely goes against the spirit of the free agency deal he signed. On the other if you want to avoid that threat just be more flexible with the NTC.....

He's been making, and will continue to make, $8 million per year, and now he gets to live somewhere very nice. Not a lot of tears to shed for me because of the "threat".

He wanted out of Winnipeg and got his wish to play for the Rangers. Signed a massive deal and then returned the favour by playing some terrible hockey.

It's just business, whether it's in the spirit of the deal or not

Money has nothing to do with; everyone should be treated with respect.
Of course we only have one side of the story.

I think it’s situational depending on the circumstances.. I don’t dislike the move if the player is behaving in a certain way

Come on. This is the same guy that told Winnipeg management that he wanted out, and now it's "disrespectful" for the Rangers to do the exact same thing to him? Sometimes the sword cuts both ways.
I’ve always gone with treat others how you want to be treated. Has nothing to do with Winnipeg or the players history.
You can be sure players around the league will take notice.

I did say though we don’t know the other side of the story

This is the Rangers we are talking about. Like the Leafs, Vegas, Tampa, Florida...there are a select group of teams that are such a destination that they can dictate outcomes.

Yep lots of good destinations players can choose instead.

Yup. The Rangers are trying to win, so I don't think a trade with the Leafs works. Something tells me the Rangers will somehow end up with Brady Tkachuk.
My general feeling is that when Brady finally decides he doesn't want to be in Ottawa anymore, he's going to try and force the Sens to trade him to Florida.

Brian Burke said on Jeff Marek's new show that he pulled the exact same move (Trouba) on Kaberle. He told him waive, or else youre sitting in the press box with me for the rest of the year.

Like people get fired for under performing in their real life jobs, this is no different. If NHL contracts weren't completely guaranteed he would have 100% been bought out in the summer.

The irony is that during the summer this is exactly what a good chunk of this fan base wanted the Leafs to do with Marner and Tavares this season. Interesting to see how opinions change.

This kid has unreal talent.
Who knows how prospects will turn out and usually it comes down to how much work they're willing to do but I had zero problems with Anaheim selecting him as high as they did. One of those talents that if he realizes his potential, you have a legit franchise player.
