The Hockey Guy just said that he hates Colorado Avalanche. Wow. Likes Vancouver and Dallas but does not Colorado.
He's also a Bruins fan.

He once said that he started hating the Avs because he was a Bruins fan and hated Roy back when he was in Montreal.

By the way, anybody following JFresh's fan vote redrafts? I feel like the Avs get boned every time. Like most recently the Sharks picked Stastny eighth, and the Avs got a bunch of horseshit. Then again, I don't see our other 2005 picks on the list, what's up with that?

We picked Ryan O'Reilly third over Duchene who went fourth.

I remember Bergeron making the Bruins team at 18 yo...freshly drafted 2nd rounder, he wasn't supposed to be there but he was a very fast kid and impressed at camp. The rest is history.

1st ballot HHOF and #37 is going straight to the rafter.

Still wish Sakic had managed to convince Patrice to come play for the Avs. He's an all-time favourite of mine, not for the flashy plays, but for how consistent he was throughout his career. He's your textbook hockey player, low maintenance, high level of execution, just a solid dude on and off the ice.

I wonder if he came here and won a Cup this year whether they would have retired the 37 jersey afterwards.

I'll be shocked if they are even in contention for a spot... that roster is rough with only a few bright spots.
They don't have a lot of bad contracts though (except maybe Coyle) and a shitload of them will expire next summer...it will be interesting to see how they build around Pasta and McAvoy. They will no longer benefit from players taking discounts though...that era is over.

They'll have the ability to re-tool rather quickly if they make some good moves, but it just won't be this year. The bonus overage is killing their cap space. They are looking at Zacha-Coyle-Frederic as their center rotation... which is bottom 5 in the league. The defense is very reliant on McAvoy staying healthy and Lindholm continuing his play from last year. Plus goaltending could have been a one year spike (though I really do like Swayman). I just don't see how that is competitive in the East. From there, they really need to figure out center. They can probably buy one top 6 guy with their cap space next summer... then have to develop another. I don't know if Beecher is capable... Poitras might be, but that's expecting quite a jump.

Who is ready for a Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha 1-2 punch down the middle?!
