Bergeron retiring feels like the beginning of the end of an Era for me. Lots of the best players that I got to watch growing up and really getting into the NHL are likely all retiring in the next few years.

Bergy, Toews, Sid, Marchand, Geno Ovechkin...


Man I can't even imagine an NHL without Crosby or Ovechkin in it quite frankly. I was like 13 years old I believe when those two started and only just beginning to watch full Avs games with regularity.

Same here. All these guys who are in their vet years or retiering now are basically peers age wise. Wild how quickly life went by.

Bergeron was amazing, but I get the feeling people were just voting him as the Selke winner due to name and recognition alone when he wasn't really a top 3 defensive forward for the past three seasons IMHO. However, I stopped caring about the awards when Rask won the Vezina over Varlamov that year. After that huge snub, it shows how useless and East Coast bias society is in general. It isn't just in hockey though, Ballon d'Or is so bad that it is probably rigged at this point.

He once said that he started hating the Avs because he was a Bruins fan and hated Roy back when he was in Montreal.

The Van-Bruins one is the fandom that confuses me with him. I knew about Dallas from a past video I saw of his ages ago. I didn't know he hated the Avs but that would be a good reason I guess. He's got some good YouTube hockey content IMO.

It’s beyond confusing. To this day I believe cheering for the Bruins gets you kicked out of Canucks fandom. The only thing they still hate more is Messier

So Cooley signs with AZ afterall.

I was looking forward to seeing a US world junior team that could run Cooley-Smith-Gauthier-Moore down the middle. It had the potential to be an all time team. Still probably favorites without Cooley.

Man, I really wish Girard for Crouse could be thought into existence. If Drouin and RyJo hold steady, Crouse would actually push Lehky to the third and holy shit Wood-Colton-Lehky would be a bitch to play against. LOC would move back to the 4th where he can limit his minutes for higher energy output and PK duty.
