That's not fair, he did show some gumption in his earlier call ups. The only issue is, once he thought he belonged he started just trying to play a skill game, where he should've been modeling his game after Calvert and Nuke and just trying to run through a wall.

Effort is hard tbough, unless your name is Phil the thrill, or The Moose.

As someone who's never really had a mother or father, the rest of the family passed away, and my lifelong friendship group completely abandoning me, I've learnt that you have to try and forgive your perceived deficiencies in other people because :

1. Life is too short
2. No-one is perfect and everyone tries their best

End of the day, no-one really knows what difficulties, hardships, stresses and anxieties someone is going through. What you see could possibly be a short term facade , masking pain and hurt.

So treat everyone with dignity and respect. Everyone is beautiful in their own ways. Give as much as you can give, without wanting anything in return (even karma).Just be the best YOU can be, and in that, you'll find happiness and contentment, and I'll tell you what - that's infectious.

You're all amazing.

Speaking of looking weird lol. Saw this on reddit. Looking forward to 10 years of fanatics View attachment 729770
I’d like to know more because uh… I can’t help but think that was user error. Is this recent? NHL directly or the altitude shop? I mean, I’m not at all happy with the full time move to fanatics, and I can’t tell if this is a ‘breakaway’ because all my current jerseys are adidas.

I ordered 2 patches last year sometimes from the nhl shop and that’s all I could get. They were marked down and immediately said ‘sold out’ for the Avs cup patch after my purchase.

How is Fanatics so bad? Do they not even bother with quality checking? :shakehead

The players jerseys are made in Canada, and quality. The Fanatics stuff is China knock off quality with NHL tradmarking. I refuse to pay them well over 200$ for that shit.

You can get on ice blanks (never game worn) on the secondary market, and send them to get the name sewn on by the people who do the teams jerseys.

The other way is to do what I did, pay the least you can for a players game worn set that would fit you. I chose to keep it as Ghetto's jersey, but at the time you couldn't get blanks of the made in Canada reebok retro with the 100 year nhl patch. It's also signed and obscure player gamers have a legit market, all be it a small one lol.

250 for shit plus tax, 250 (depending) a little more effort and a real jersey. Then maybe 300 to 500 for a game worn auction jersey no one bids on because it's an obscure player, but the money goes to youth sports charities.

I just can't with Fanatics crap, but to be honest very few people can spot the differences at a glance.

Yeah, I'm glad I'm more in the ball cap or odd memento rather than jersey phase. I know we all have our own unique level of fandoms. Would be interesting to hear from Avs collectors what kind of loot they've obtained over the years, beyond what gets shared in the jersey thread.

I also seem to remember a poster (or two or three) who had some serious home improvement skills and showed off some fabulous Avs man-caves and kid rooms too. I'm constantly amazed by the talent and pure creativity it takes to come up with that stuff.

Fanatics era is going to kill me a little. The MiC Adidas only go down to 54 in the player/team issue. I could make Sir Avgard’s ‘hockey dresses’ a reality if I tried to wear one that size. Might be the end of the collection if they don’t make proper retail Authentics cause even I have my spending limits and jerseys that are way too big to wear is beyond it for that kind of money

One day when I finally finish the 15 year long jersey collection project I’ll actually post the whole thing. I have like way too many pucks from the 3 Cups and signed ones from Mack, Makar, Landy, Mikko, Bo and Ozo. Signed Landy mini stick too. This is by far the most random part of the collection though:

Yeah, Ghetto's is 54, it's just right for me though. Zadorov's is 58 lol. Adidas, that's right, not Reebok.

I think there is a 52 actually, but good luck finding one. Maybe if people are finally selling the blanks.

I have draft pucks for Mack & Landy, and 96 cup pucks for Forsberg, Sakic, and Roy.

My jersey collection has a weird mix. Loved the 95/96 shiny mesh jerseys. So I was building them for the core guys by buying blanks of authentic jerseys. The difference between those and the ones they wore on the ice is the Avs logo on the front is bigger. Which funny enough they eventually changed the on ice ones to have the larger Avs logo. I stopped on that though lol.

In all of that I came across a Hejduk game worn early 2K jersey some dude was selling on Ebay for 75$. He just thought it was a beat up jersey that happened to have a signature I guess. Hejduk had not had his number retired yet either. I knew how to recognize the tags. That is sort of the crown jewel.

This recent cup I bought the glass Stanley Cup with the rink ice in it. Something about that just gets me lol. It's a cool conversation piece.

I also have a game puck from some random game against CBJ that is turned into a bottle opener, but it's also a 25 year anniversary puck.

There is a guy I talked to a lot on Twitter way back that turned his basement into an Avs rink, and built a zamboni bed for his kid if I remember right. He used to post here on occasion but mainly in the jersey thread. He taught me a lot. Can't remember the handle though. That's probably who you're talking about.

I was slowly falling into the jersey/ Memorabilia trap (got a 2022 puck like this and a Mikko Autographed jersey plus a few other things) but with Fanatics as the new jersey provider I don't see myself trying to get them for a while. My biggest regret is not getting the original Reverse Retro lol.

Yea I regret not trying harder to get the RR1.0s at the time. I gambled that it would be like most jerseys where you can find the discontinued ones of eBay for less. Got burned with that one. They cost a lot more to get later than if I had found them originally

I have one Fanatics one I love despite being a blah jersey because it happened to be the one I was wearing when they won the cup. Then I wore it to banner raising night and Nuke signed the sleeve. I had purposely brought a jersey that I wouldn’t be that upset if the airline lost it

I have a few others I got cheap on eBay. I’m trying to start customizing my older blanks myself. The fanatics ones are better for practicing on since I don’t really care that much if I mess it up
