I mean, I always support rooting against Vegas, in fact I strongly encourage it… but don’t you want the Avs to finish ahead of the Oilers in the standings? Vegas is well out of range.
Vegas needs to lose in order to face the Stars.

Otherwise Dallas gets LAK in round 1

Vegas/Edmonton suits me just fine.

I’d like to see the Avs finish with more points than as many Western teams as possible. They can’t get home-ice against Dallas, but hopefully they get it against most other teams.

okay… your plan risks facing Edmonton too. The hottest team in the league since the coaching change.
They are a lesser threat to us.

There's no better realistic scenario than Vegas facing Dallas in round 1.

1 of the top 2 threat is getting eliminated straight away and the winner is likely getting out of that series pretty beat up.

I don’t agree with that… Edmonton is a big threat and arguably even bigger threat if the Avs get beat up by Vegas in the 2nd round.

Vegas having to go through Edmonton and hopefully Vancouver finding a way through is the most preferable outcome.

Vegas would plow through everything the Pacific has to offer: Edmonton, Vancouver, LA, Nashville...

Dallas, on the other hand, are a similar hard nosed team with a shitload of depth. They'd give 'em Hell (in fact I'd probably pick Dallas to win that series).

I don't want to imagine a beat up Avs team coming out of a Dallas series in round 2 and then having to face fresh as a rose Vegas.

I don’t think Vegas will fly through. It’ll be a battle over there.

I’m not even sure if we should worry about facing Vegas. They’ve been sucking for a long time now and it’s not a small sample size. Ever since they had that hot start to the season when they won 10 in a row or something like that, they haven’t been good rest of the season. They’ve just been average or bad

I really feel like Vegas might have the same problem we do: goaltending.

I'm not convinced last year wasn't an outlier hot run from Adin Hill, and I don't think Logan Thompson is all that good.

Georgiev is the worst of the bunch.

But there’s a number of weak goalies in the West. Vegas and Edmonton can be exploited there and Otter has looked rough too.

The part with George that is scary, he’s never shown that hot streak in the playoffs. Hill has, Otter has, Demko and Helly definitely have…
