I'll give you the Graves signing, but it's been a collective effort there to screw themselves. I think he was all but forced, by ownership, to get EK, and Hextall screwed them by signing Malkin and Letang, and Rakell to a horrible deals.

That Guentzel trade wasn't good either, and then they don't trade Rust or Carter or anyone else to get picks or prospects.
Well, is he the GM or isn't he?

In October, people kept saying that ownership brought him in to keep going for it but not necessarily making decisions for him. Now you're saying he had no choice but to trade for him?? Trading for EK fits the mold of the stupid things that kyle dumbass has been doing for years.

Erik Karlsson was a luxury they didn't need especially when you consider that for him to be happy, they have to let him play a 'no-defense, heavy minute' game that leads to him getting a bunch of points and the team a bunch of losses.

All you had to do was spend a bit of time watching the sharks last year to come to that conclusion. Now I see that pens fans are blaming this season on sullivan...changing the coach won't matter - Ek and is contract are an albatross for another 3 years after this one for $10M per year.

I didn't absove him from fault. I said it's been a collective effort to get them where they are now.

Is he ultimately responsible for EK and Graves, and not making smart trades at this deadline? Yes. I didn't say he wasn't part of the reason why they dealt for EK, I said I THINK he was somewhat forced to make that deal by ownership. That doesn't make him not guilty if he agreed to do it.

However, he is not responsible for signing Malkin, Letang, Carter, and Rakell. That's on Hextall.

So Chicago needs 11 out of a final 36 points to tie the Avs 48 point futility season. Idk if they get it, honestly.
They're on pace for 47 right now, but they also play some other basement teams between now and the end of the season. Anaheim twice, San Jose twice, and Ottawa once. It's hard to give that team a fighting chance against any opponent at the moment, but that's 10 points they at least have a chance at grabbing.

It's going to be really close for them to make it to 48. There's a chance they manage it, but god I hope they come up short.

I feel like once Dubas truly rebuilds, he is going to build an insanely shitty hockey team.
He’s gonna build another Leafs team. Bunch of expensive forwards, no D no goalie. He actually said it himself that he believes that works in todays NHL:laugh:

Is the rule that if you pull your goalie in OT and the other team scores you dont get a point? I remember the Avs doing this in 01' in OT. I cant remember why the Avs were trying to win that game possibly for some record but I remember that if they lost with a goalie pulled that they wouldnt get a point.

Yes that is indeed the rule.

If Minnesota wants to go balls to the wall in this last month to make their draft position worse while still missing the playoffs, more power to them.
I can't remember the exact name, I think it was the gold standard.... but it was a proposed method to determine the first overall pick by awarding it to the team that accumulates the highest number of points starting from the day that team is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. The idea being that a team truly built to tank wouldn't be able to win the required number of points to get the first overall draft pick, therefore teams wouldn't do it.

I wonder if that is why it was never implemented.
