No Sir.

CMAC will give us a hell of a TDL and with this new reinforcements we will go on a run and show the west who´s the boss....... :naughty::hit:
C'mon man, Eller scored 2 goals for us! You can't expect him to put on that kind of repeat performace and save our season once again! CMac is going to have to put on his big boy pants and find 2 Lars Ellers this week

The Oilers are going to pass the Avs in the standings in two weeks, tops. Perhaps as early as next Sunday.
I'm just really not worried about this... Avs will likely finish 2nd or 3rd in the Central. With 3rd being a bit more likely than 2nd. Which odds are with that, they'll be on the road for all but one round at best. This team needs to win on the road to be successful anyway... so burning the team out to maybe finish 2nd and still face the Stars just doesn't seem worthwhile.

Trailed 3-0 yesterday, scored 5 in the third and won 5-3.

Trailed 2-1 today, scored 4 in the 3rd and won 5-2
Watched that game last night. Jets were just the superior team over the Sabres. Luukonnen played well for them but the Sabres ran out of gas after a home back to back.

Yeah, I realize that the Jets played the Canes the night before and also won in a comeback. But, the Sabres defensive mistakes just ate their lunch and the Jets are experienced enough to take advantage of them.

Thompson had a solid snipe attempt on a 3rd period PP that the Jet goalie snagged. Ya gotta score on that team when you get the opportunity. Then a poor pinch by the Sabres D gave the Jets a transition goal. Luuk had just taken a shot off the noggin that frankly, stunned him a bit. You could see the Sabres shoulders drop after that score.

Plus, the Jets play physical and that took a toll.

You don't have to hear it every day. My job will become a literal nightmare. Don't even get me started on if the Oilers go farther than the Avs in the playoffs and - Lord please no - actually win the Stanley Cup.

I’ve seen two headlines on NHL.com with “former player dies” just seems like a weird way to phrase it instead of passes away.

That's my reservation. I don't think it will be good... but maybe they luck out on some matchups. The luxury the Jets have is Lowry can matchup against anyone, then Namestnikov can sub in and take a few shifts at center.
the Jets window closed a few years ago 🙄

you know it's happening and they will sweep the Avs right ? lol

they are gonna pass everyone in the west eventually

At the Devils-Kings game right now. Jersey may want to hold off on trading for a goalie. Daws was bad but the team in front of him isn’t playing very well either.

We as Avs fans know all too well what having consistently bad goaltending does to a team. I haven’t watched any jersey games this year but could it be the players playing tight and lacking confidence? When we went through our lean years it was easy to see that player just knew that they were starting the game down a goal or two most nights.

I don't see them as a contender personally. Win a round or two maybe... give teams hell. But I don't see them winning 4 rounds with their roster. Helly would have to be in God mode for 21 out of 24-25 games.
They don't scare me either

Bobrovsky did it last year for the Panthers until the long break between the ECF and the Cup Finals deactivated his deity mode switch.

I think it would take at least that level for Winnipeg to run all the way to the Cup. He has the talent, but I wouldn't be betting on it. I can easily see them winning a round and possibly two.

Define scare...

I think they'd be favored against the Avs by a decent amount if it was as a first round matchup. But I don't think they can beat the Avs, Stars, Oilers and Panthers in succession.
I don't think they can beat the Avs

I definitely think they can given the rosters of both teams right now.

Winnipeg just has to throw the kitchen sink at 29, because lines 2-4 are superior to the Avs 2-4 and their goaltender is WAY better than ours.

I could easily see that being a 6 game win for Winnipeg.

Yeah I see Winnipeg doing everything they can to matchup Lowry and MacK. MacK will win that matchup, but if they can keep his line to 2 or less goals... Winnipeg has to feel good about their top 6 and 4th line coming up with 3+.

I'm counting Nuke and Landy too though.

But yeah especially with 4giev and the goaltending difference

Avs fans should absolutely be scared of what Winnipeg can do to them in the playoffs. If ever there was a coach whose systems really do a number on what Jared Bednar likes to do out there, it's Bones. That was the case in Dallas and it's the case now in Winnipeg, anyone who's able to clog up the NZ and seemingly get sticks in every passing lane really messes up the Avs' ability to move the puck up the ice, and it takes them seemingly forever to make any sort of adjustments. And even when they do you can tell there are players like Mikko and Nate who would rather die than go full dump-and-chase. Doesn't help that they also have IMHO the best goalie in hockey right now while the Avs...don't.

Doesn't mean Winnipeg can get a Cup but they most certainly could dispatch a very vulnerable Avs team.

Speaking of the Jets, I'd say the worm is turning in Winnipeg about on schedule. I've maintained that Bones seems like that kind of coach who does like, 10 things right, but then does 1 or 2 things that completely unravel him. Right now it's the fact that he has this weird, irrational hatred of Nikolaj Ehlers. It's so strange. His two worst defensive players by a country mile are Scheifele and Connor, and he insists on playing them together. Yet when Ehlers, who is arguably his best two-way forward, makes a mistake, BOOM, demoted. Doesn't make any sense.

Yep. If we don't learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.

I think the whole “contenders” thing is overblown at times honestly. We’ve seen St Louis win the cup, Dallas/Montreal and even Florida last year make unpredictable runs. Toronto has been a contender ever year it feels like yet haven’t advanced past the 2 round. Matchups, momentum, lucky, health etc. play large roles.

It’s wide open this year IMO. You have 4-6ish teams with a great chance and than another handful of teams who will need things to shake out there way down the stretch. Avs are in the latter unless they have a good deadline for me.

What bet(s) are your students holding over your head this year?

Oh it's been rough since they fired the coach.

My classroom is littered with Avs jerseys and 2022 Stanley Cup memorabilia like scarves, posters, framed photos, banners, etc.

They are swearing to take them all down and replace them with Oilers stuff if the Oilers win the Cup. I'm on an island here.
