I don't know if Davidson is responsible for any of this. I'm not even sure that he can do anything.
Nope. He absolutely is. He’s the guy who hired Jarmo in the first place (which I guess was a mistake) and both he and Jarmo convinced a reluctant owner to sign off on the Babcock hire. He absolutely has played a part in this mess.

Ownership isn’t exactly absolved completely here either.

I'm not saying you're wrong but keep in mind that Davidson was with the Rags while Jarmo was doing it's thing with Columbus...and he wasn't going to fire the GM as soon as he got hired back.

Who knows how involved he was in the Babcock hire.

I think Jarmo has made some shrewd moves as a GM. He's in a bad market for players and the owners aren't particularly generous with their money. But even given the lousy hand he was dealt, it's clear now that his tenure has been a failure. He's been spinning his wheels for forever it seems like, I think it's just time to admit that while he has made some good moves, he lacks real vision for the team. Like Ken Holland, his plan seems to be "get some talented players together and see what happens". Holland has better top end talent to work with, so he gets more breathing room, but ultimately both of them have accomplished nothing with the talent they've been able to acquire because they don't have a clue what their identity should be.

To be honest, JD needs to go as well. I don't think Mike Babcock ever struck me as a Jarmo-like hire and it's got me wondering who has been calling the shots since they brought Davidson back.

I personally would never have brought him back after he dogged them for NY in the first place. But I think they both need to go and complete overhaul of the management structure needs to happen before a true culture change or a winning attitude can be instilled.

I'm so glad Joe Sakic stuck around as President instead of just retiring altogether after winning the Cup.

3 mil, for one year. And he probably will be on vacation by April next year.

That man is in the zone and enjoys life. He allready has his ring.

Maybe he comes back to Denver for one last run? :D

Doubtful he’ll agree to what the Avs are willing to pay.

I’m not saying he should’ve fired Jarmo once he came back but I’m telling you he WAS involved in the Babcock hire. He’s not just some figurehead back there.

It’s just a mess in Lumbus and I have no idea how it gets fixed. Or if it even can.

If ownership wants to win now at all costs then yes, they are doomed.

Pushing all-in with a bad hand when they traded for Duchene instead of selling Panarin and Bob is at the center of Jarmo’s failure.

I agree on a lot of this, but it makes matters worse because you had a chance to get the Oilers new coach (who seems like an intelligent bloke) yet you go for the nepotism "in your system" pick. Of course, trust the blokes in your system, but I am not sure what Vincent has done to get the starting gig and all this control he's dished out has been worse. Like I wrote last week, he's punishing players like they're 17 to 22 YO who still need to develop. Whatever the case may be, if CBJ finishes the bottom 5 again you simply have to fire everyone. I do think the HC gets some leeway because this situation reminds me a lot of Bednar when Roy quit the team. Hard to implement everything you can in such a short time, but Bednar had a track record of being a winner. Not since Vincent won to be in the same category or get that same respect.

I still don’t think THAT is where they went wrong. The assets they gave up there didn’t Shanghai them. It’s everything they’ve done since then that’s landed them where they’re at now. Well, that and one horribly tragic fireworks accident that left their future backup goalie dead and their star goalie a broken shell of himself.
