LA keeps getting better. They have a GM that looks at the weaknesses on his team every year and ships them out while bringing in players to make them stronger. Year in year our Blake is making good and logical deals that organization.
Iafallo and Villardi weren't exactly weaknesses. the main changes LA are experiencing this season is their group of younger support players is suddenly dialing up again after a pretty ordinary offseason.

Moore and Byfield alone being PPG is drastic change from their ineffective seasons last year.

PLD hasn't even been doing that much and Arviddson is out longterm. the team shouldn't be doing as well as this but is.

I would say that Talbot was an important addition stabilizing the #1 spot for the first time in awhile in LA. He was available...

The biggest divisional concern is that not only are LA good but they've now entrenched the solid core for when Kopitar and Doughty eventually retire. Meaning unfortunately that not only are LA going to be a lock for a playoff spot now but they will be taking one of the divisional spots in likelihood for rest of decade.

The table is set in LA. In Edmonton post McDrai is bare scraps and another stoned out DOD roster. This org is allergic to reload attempts. Thats the impressive thing in LA, it was essentially a reload and only short term pain for the fanbase between icing competitive sides.

Iafallo and Durzi got smashed in the playoffs when we pushed them. They are okay players but ultimately make your team weaker in the playoffs. Villardi is young and skilled (still was injured heading into the playoffs) and something of value needed to be sent to get PLD which is a great upgrade if you are bought into what Eichel did against McDrai to stop them.

Then the constant finagling with their goaltending, a goalie carousel if you will for the last 2 years to finally land on Talbot.

It's funny because Kings fans are not very fond of Blake.

Oh how naive they are.

Bedard stole McDavids ability

And this is where we remember that Holland spent time trying to create a monster of a 3 way trade involving sign and trades and double retention to fit Klingberg in at his ask of 7M+x8years that no other teams were willing to do (and for good reason).

Right side would've been Klingberg-Barrie-Bouchard. All 3 would be in contention for the green jacket, just a walking group of minuses.
