almost as good as Sutter calling Huderdeau the "best passer the team has had"
the hyperbole is strong in Cowtown
Huberdeau also takes the best shit any flame member ever has.

I don't know what Brady Boy was thinking. Getting Huber signed for all that Dough before he even put his skates on was an incredibly stupid mistake. What a disaster! Don't imagine he's very happy playing for the team but at least away from the rink he's living like a king I suppose.
It was a pure panic move after Gaudreau walked for nothing, but I think it's also the decree of ownership to keep the gravy train going for as long as possible. To be fair they did just finish first in the division but there was no way they were going to be able to fully replace the outgoing players.

But they really should've exercised patience. Had the season played out the way it did with no extensions in place they could've gotten a significant haul for Weegar and Huberdeau at the deadline and jumpstarted a necessary rebuild.

But, well, here we are.

Buffalo calls up their undrafted free agent from Sherwood Park, Brandon Biro, and he scores two goals in his second NHL game.

Seems like the Oilers only sign the guys from the area who suck haha.

He was an invitee at the Oilers rookie camp a few years ago as well - I think 2018. Pretty sure our internal development and scouting people are - were cross eyed.

It all stems from a desire for them to feel wanted. Trelving going on about how "pissed off" he was at the Calgary community taking a beating over everyone wanting to bail on them. This has carried on to the new management team as well where they were hellbent on resigning everyone up until about a day ago even though it defied any sort of logic or critical analysis.

By resigning those guys it was an exercise in “look everyone said nobody wants to be here now what!” Result of that thought process looks good on them.

There's also a rampant belief among Flames brass that as long as you make the playoffs you can win the Cup. And while yes, this is technically true (look no further than '04), in a way it really isn't as well. Very rarely is the winner of a Cup a non-contender. And the few times the Flames have been a contender they got blown away unceremoniously. But I also believe that they're scared to do an Edmonton-styled rebuild for various reasons.

Flames ownership is garbage, something we know here all too well.

Protection looks to be great, but from that angle it looks uncomfortable as heck.

I'll bet helmets were super uncomfortable when they first came out too, when no one had been wearing them, so I'm sure everyone will eventually learn to tolerate it and treat it as just another piece of equipment. Long, long overdue.

Well Flames fans did say that Kadri and Hubie would be in the conversation for setting team records. Don't think this is what they had in mind though. Lol

Wonder who Hueby and Kads and the rest are going to blame now that Sutter is long gone? After all, he was their main excuse for being shitty last year.

Islands in the stream.
Kostin takes a penalty on a dumb play and draws a penalty on a good play with puck in same period. Mixed bag, but still gets benched. He actually looked good in his 3mins..Using his strength more and being strong on puck on a few shifts. Wings really have nothing going today.

I don't know if we will be able to even get 4th in the pacific this year.
Yeah, looks like the Oilers will be battling for a wild card spot at best. Top-3 in the Pacific is pretty much already out of reach with the starts Vegas, LA, and Vancouver have had (and the Oilers floundering).

Ands the Canucks hit 10. I know the Sharks are awful, but does anyone think we could pot 10 goals against them?

Vancouver's numbers look wildly unsustainable, but we'll see. Like their start makes the Kraken last season look tame by comparison.

Depends are we playing our #1 PP late in the game :sarcasm:

The summer 2.0 of Tre showing the usual dividends.

Spends all kind of money on Domi, Bertuzzi, Klingberg and Reaves but then has to lose Lafferty due to cap space.

Then fans bitch that the NHL is messed up with their cap. I'm still on board that if we had a ten million dollar higher cap that teams would still be f***ed cap wise.

Would think the team would bring him down for a meet and greet to try make his night, but I don't even know that would make the kid happy
