They should at least give Tkachuk credit for telling them he wasn't signing long term and agreeing to sign with Florida.

Perhaps Sutter was happy he didn't want to stick around?

It's really a huge favour to share that with the organization and to help in finding suitor because extended he's worth a lot more on the trade market. Sutter should be grateful not salty about it. Tkachuk could have rode out the end of the contract being coy about his intentions (as is his right under the CBA) and have left Calgary with nothing from the entire situation.

?

I think it would be pretty obvious when your RFA turns down a fair and significant deal. Tkachuk didn't do any favours, he simply said no to their offers.

Exactly... the difference between a RFA and UFA. Gaudreau could simply go where he wanted, Tkachuk they had RFA control with.

RIP all those additional assists Pettersson could have had.

I kid. But this is definitely Leaf Fan Brucie Boudreau playing a hunch.
Watch this be the year Mikheyev finally have a “lucky” shooting percentage and scores 40+

Nucks fans will chirp Leaf fans non-stop, after they’re done overturning cop cars and setting garbage cans on fire

Florida just signed Spencer Knight for three years and 4.5mil avg. They have 14.5mil worth of contracts for goalies next three seasons, after this.

Florida's front office is giving odd big "we'll just worry about it later" energy. Wonder how much real cash Bob is owed on his contract

Feels like Florida just attempted the Alex Anthopolous 2015 run with the Toronto Blue Jays and is completely out of assets to do anything for the foreseeable future.

I like that it's low enough of an increase that we can sign Matthews with a cushion the year he comes up, but not a $92 million jump where someone else could go crazy.

The year after Tavares' deal ends we'll have $11 million coming off the books and a $10 million increase from this year...
