Galchy released from his PTO by the Avs today.

Wonder if that guy wishes he had a mulligan on Dubas’ declined offer…..

Guy had some pretty good chemistry with Kerfoot and Nylander against the Habs.

Sandin, take note……. :)
I would think the leafs staff definitely would have been able to help him improve his game much more than the yotes staff could. His ego must have gotten in the way.

Him turning down the Leafs (who reportedly allegedly offered him a league minimum deal) likely the stupidest decision of his career. Wonder if this is it for him in the NHL

Thought I'd throw this out after the Sandin signing.

Season is in jeopardy.

Garbage you have to fight after laying a clean hit.

Absolutely man-sized hit by Jenik on Zegras, skating right through the trolley tracks probably fantasizing about his next Michigan goal.

Has he said that Jenik is a disgrace and the league should step in and do something yet?

Zegras got a lot of love last year because he was a rookie. This is still NHL, you are going to get hit. Welcome to the big leagues kid. Even the bestest players get hit here

While I can still empathize a little bit with any athlete who fritters away his career including Galchenyuk, what has happened to him has been entirely self-inflicted. From most reports he has been ill-prepared and too proud to listen everywhere he has played.

“It’s not exactly one that’s eating up cap space, but when you consider the ramifications that come with having your team operate in LTIR, the Vancouver Canucks have in recent days and weeks been attempting to move the contract of Micheal Ferland. Now, he’s in the final year of his deal, we know that he’s not coming back to play, his cap hit is $3.5 million, and his real cash owed to him this season is $2.75 million, so they’ve been in touch with some other teams that either have had injuries in training camp up to this point, or are already operating in LTIR and might be able to use a little bit of a boost.

The thing with Ferland’s contract though that I think has gotten in the way of some of this is that because Ferland is out with injury, it’s not insured, so whoever’s picking up that deal would be paying the full $2.75 million in real cash. The Canucks are obviously trying to get rid of it because they don’t want to pay that and they don’t want to operate in LTIR, so they’re probably going to have to pay a little bit to move it, but we’ll see how that unfolds.

Maybe there’s a team out there that says ‘You know what, this is a situation that might benefit us a bit to be operating in LTIR if we are starting this season with some short term injuries that may not last the whole year, that would give us a little bit of a cushion.’ So just something to keep an eye on, Micheal Ferland’s contract. We’ve seen some other teams this summer [do this], like the Montreal Canadiens trading Shea Weber’s contract, so there are teams out there that have been trying to do it.”

Canucks could also really use a RHD like Holl.

For those interested and subscribe Cam Charron a former member of the Leafs stats department has new piece with the Athletic about his time working with the Leafs

A few interesting tidbits. About the role of stats analysis - such as even in terms of internal proprietary metrics in his view there's no such thing as a true version on of WAR..and that stats departments are now moving towards bringing in more advanced number crunching guys (in part seemingly indicating why his contract wasn't renewed)

"No opinion is totally objective, and some analysts will weigh certain metrics above others." - a line from the piece.

9m+ for Barzal, who has averaged around 65 points per year under Lou. Lou hoping he's actually a 90pt player.
Seems like a fair deal to me.
Wouldn't a 90 point player at his age earn more than 9?
