Quebec political parties weighing in on the Suzuki captaincy decision. The not so subtle, you should have picked a French Canadian again. And they say toronto is the toughest market.

We dont have that extra layer of people dumbasses they do.
Some Quebecois are remarkably jingoistic regarding Quebec cultural hegemony. Their school system and media has hammered it home for decades. They really are primed to take that click bait, at least the older generations.

Who can forget big, bad 6’5 220 Wheeler getting put on his ass by barely 170 lbs Sandin?

That WPG room has had issues for a while. I don’t think Paul Maurice has a toxic personality necessarily, but I think he’s very flippant and seems to let things fester - something he shares in common with shovels on his day off.

He also quit in the middle of the season. Not was fired, but quit. Giving up a seven figure salary in the middle of the season should be a pretty huge red flag.

They had Based Buff throwing Evander Kane’s tracksuit into the shower, which I’m sure Kane did nothing at all to prompt.

Laine seemed to have had a lot of love from the boys, then overnight they turned their hearts to stone when news of his addiction to a ‘video game’, if you can even call Fortnite a video game, hit the press.

You could say Trouba wanted out to be closer to his girlfriend, but that’s he said she said and I’m sure it played a part but he probably didn’t like the city (because when your buddies are playing in Vegas, LA and Miami how could you?) and a few of the guys in the room.

Dubois was jazzed as hell to get there and not even two calendar years later he wants out, though he seems to be a low-character individual. I do also recall hearing about issues with Roslovic who was traded for him.

Speaking of low character, where is Scheifele in all of this? Sure he still gets his PPG, but this guy has been gassed up to the atmosphere about his ‘on ice leadership’ but the last memorable thing he did was smoke that guy on Montreal during their series.

I’d feel sort of bad for them, but remember when we all had to live through this?

I felt bad for Calgary when Gaudreau and Tkachuk left, and I might even have some empathy for the Oilers when Drai leaves, but not in this case.

As for alligators, it’s Florida and if there’s a body of water bigger than a puddle it will have alligators in it, and they aren’t even that bad - unless some idiot has been feeding it, no gator less than eight feet long poses a threat to any human adult. Don’t be stupid and let your kids swim in water where you know there are gators, or walk your dog at night beside the lake and you’ll be okay.

Have them chase a few kids around maybe? Alligator is tasty but it’s not something a lot of people want to eat, and gator skin jerseys would cost something heinous like 5 grand.

That's part of the problem of course. It isn't like it's a secret that the Jets have a locker room issue, and that Wheeler appears to be a big part of that. Players have allegedly said it, Maurice simply left the team last year. Who is going to trade a meaningful asset for a 36 yo. locker room problem at $8.25 mil?
The guy has been a known locker room problem for years, the real question is why would management stick with him all this time? He was coming off back to back 91 pt seasons just 3 years ago (hes still been near point per game the last 3 years). Could have got a nice return and fixed a broken room in one move.

Ok now the other side

Who is trading for him willing to do the work to fit the cap at his age

Really hope Matthews ends up coming in around 14mx8. Obviously less would be better, but would love to get 8 years this time.

You give Matthews a contract template and he can fill out the $ amount. If this franchise loses him in free agency, it would be absolutely devastating.
