Its about $$ greed most likely, they don't want to go thru a Bud Light situation with losing $$.
Same reason they are ok with Ads on jerseys, $$$$$.
they're going to be losing $$$ if anything because those specialty jerseys do a great job of bringing in cash. it's not just the pride jerseys that are going to be done away with. this should mean no more retro warmups, hockey fights cancer, cultural nights, etc

i'm sure they'll keep the military appreciation jerseys though

The military jerseys I never liked though. Considering the tensions with russia it might be for the best the military jerseys go away.

They are keeping all the specialty jerseys they want, and all the “fill in the blank” appreciation nights they want, on a team by team basis. The only difference is that the players don’t wear them in warmups.

I’m sure that the NHLPA and NHL both want it. It removes the players taking heat for their opinions (Everyone disagrees with someone) and allows the team to still support whatever they individually want to. Hopefully it would mean they produce more of them for purchase, as the auction ones go 100% to charity, not the teams, anyway.

Best case scenario would be the teams being able to do whatever the hell they want like the AHL does. I’ve got Gulls Spider Man and Wookie jerseys, much more fun than any of the NHL ones.

Yes, fear of losing $$ and probably some pressure from the players' union.
Well it appears they are keeping the speciality jerseys afterall just not the warmups. I mean 'warm up' jerseys are not the ones i'd fight over. I honestly care more about them cleaning up toxic locker room culture than special jerseys, the jerseys don't change how they act in the locker room to people of color or LGBTQ+. A guy could be homophobic but wear the pride jersey so everyone thinks he nice.

I haven't been in an NHL locker room, so I can't speak to how they act in there. My point was that there were probably players that wore the warmups to escape public censure, but let the union know that they weren't happy about it.

the worn jerseys are the ones people want more though... those jersey's are gonna sell way better than a just a regular non-worn jersey.

I understand they have a zillion picks and you can't use them all but giving up a top 45-50 pick next year for a pylon like Durzi is hilarious.

I'd love to see if the NHL has ANY reasoning behind it or it's literally just an attempt to avoid any and all controversy.
I think most people just want to go to games and see hockey. They can get their social justice quota watching the cable news channel of their choice. I hope this is a trend that feeds into all sports. Just let the fans watch the game.

surprised LA traded durzi. wasn't he one of their better young d-men?
Any team that has aspirations to be in the playoffs cannot afford to have Durzi in their lineup. He is guaranteed to be the direct result of at least one opposition goal per game. Just awful defense and questionable decision making.

PLD at 8.5 x 8 seems feels like UFA money, yet they still gave up assets to get him. Well done, Rob Blake. That diploma from the Bob Murray school of Asset Management is really paying dividends.

Probably nothing, but it might be a better topic to discuss than trading our core players for DeBrincat (which would not be necessary in the first place )
