Oh, Florida. Someone posted the 1st one on the mainboard so I ran the Simulator a while to get the second. (If Arizona picks 8th after everyone endlessly bitched about them deliberately tanking, including fans of teams who had successfully tanked or drafted 1OA or 2OA before, I give up.)

Series scheduling is an attendance killer. Putting games back to back in the same city ultimately makes non-season ticket holder choose which game they want to go to when they may otherwise go to both.

For example I’m an out of market fan if Florida. Right now I plan to go to both games when the Devils are in town (this week and in March), but if both games were this week I would go to one.

It works this way in Baseball. I’m a Yankees fan and when I lived in NJ is there was a big opponent coming to town we would only pick one of the games in series to go. Baseball plays 162 games so they have to play series for travel. But it is dumb for an 82 games schedule because then you limit teams coming in town once.

The only people who suggest this are people who don’t understand how non-season ticket purchases work.

If I understand correctly, you are saying you’d be more likely to attend two games in a row if they are vs the Flyers and Wild than you would if they were both against the Flyers?

I understand that you’d only make it to one of the games against the “big opponent”, but did you bother to go to any if it was a random western team with no real playoff implications / rivalry?

The difference between 82 and 84 games is not huge. I don't think they should go many more over that though. With more wear and tear over the course of the season, and less rest time in the offseason, guys are going to get injured more, and the quality of play will suffer.

Exactly. NFL reduced preseason and added one more regular season game. Looking at the rosters and quality of play the past two weeks and its almost replacement level rosters - especially at the quarterback position.

The last thing the NHL needs is a watered down product in the most important part of the season and in the playoffs.

Though unfortunately it appears the biggest concern in professional sports is currently gaming and broadcast rights.

Given the element running these industries neither is overly concerned with the product nor the well-being of the players.

All that is required are lines and content.

He’s got it right it’s stupid to add games adding two games for divisional play isn’t going to move the needle nothing more crazy to hear when an inter conference game goes to overtime and they say that losing the extra point doesn’t matter.

Habs would be unstoppable in two or three years if they won the top 2 picks . They still lack and high end D or two though . Their top 6 forwards would be insane and set for years.
I dont even want to think about it happening. I’m hoping and praying the top picks go out west.

Honestly, I think Demko would have gotten it together by now had he not gotten hurt in a game and shut down for however long it is.

At the time he got hurt Spencer Martin had a higher save percentage than him, which is not something I see sustained the whole year. Martin is a brutal AHL caliber veteran goalie and has since went kerplunk. I’d almost expect Delia to get more starts from here on out until Demko returns, unless he bombs as bad as Martin.

Petersen was a mistake the entire time. He never should have been given that much money. He should have gotten what we gave Blackwood per year and not $5 million. Brutal move by Rob Blake.

Quick is old and washed up and got that deal literally over 10 years ago now.

Gibson is young-ish but pretty washed up.

Markstrom is underachieving about as much as he overachieved last year. He’s not as bad as he’s been this year and he wasn’t as good as he played last year.

Grubauer got a stupid deal and was inflated by Colorado. His underlying numbers for 2 of his 3 years there were a negative.

Campbell has been in a 50 game tailspin since December of last year.

I was also gonna say washed up Bob and his bloated deal, but that’s Pacific Division only.

Carlson out indefinitely for Washington, Oshie also injured again. They can't catch a break.
Thats good . I don’t want to wish harm on anyone or take pleasure in people beig hurt , just that it’s good for us that they are unable to play. They were over playing over their heads for awhile. Hopefully they finally slow down . Them and the Pens… so sick of them . They will rattle off a stupid winnig streak or two that are 10 games long , then completely shit the bed in the playoffs.

Demko is the only one I thnk will ever climb back over .900 (maybe Markstrom )
Rest of them were has-beens and never-were good.

I think some of the others may get over .900% again, but I don’t think most of them will be consistently good from year to year ever again.

Gibson is probably shot, but he’s usually around .904%, .905%.

Grubauer seems to be pretty shot. He’s shown no signs of last year being a fluke.

Petersen has likely already peaked in the NHL, if I had to guess. Not to mention that his peak was really nothing special to begin with.

Campbell has likely already played his best NHL hockey. He may have a good season again, but he won’t live up to this contract.

Quick may never have another season in the NHL after this, period. I’m 50/50 on Quick retiring after this year. He really should.

Tage has 3 inches on him according to the Elite website.

I cant think of any 6’7 NHL players with hands like these.
NHL.com has Lemieux at 6’4” 230 lbs and Tage at 6’6” 220 lbs. Not exactly the same but honestly the closest comparable I can think of.
