Quite a highlight reel and we ain't even close to the end of the season. Most entertaining player in the league this season. Absolutely stunned with the way he just blew up and became a force of nature on the ice.
I need reminding maybe but Thompson came to Buffalo from the Blues as a prospect in the Ryan O'Reilly trade? St. Louis got a cup out of it, if so, but Thompson looks like he's going to be lighting it up for this generation.

Feels like an updated version of Nieuwendyk - Iginla.

So few trades work out like that.

Next year's winter classic is Las Vegas at Seattle. At least it's new teams and a new venue.
I feel like this is already the third or fourth winter classic for each of these two teams today and it's definitely the second one to be held at Fenway. And the Bruins also hosted another one at the stadium in Foxborough.

And the winter classic is still fairly new, it's not like it's been happening for 30 years now. Only like 15 years.

And with the one lockout year where the season hadn't yet started by January 1st, as well as the covid year and having no winter classic those two years, that's even 2 less since then.

Nashville and Dallas in 2020 was kind of a nice change of pace and something different. Even last year with Minnesota and St. Louis.

I also love how the stupid ad features Crosby and a guy from the Bruins that isn't even gonna play today unless it's in relief. I would LOVE to see a recut of that commercial after Swayman goes ''They still call you kid? Aren't you a little old for that?'' only with Crosby replying ''Do they call you backup yet? Aren't you gonna be on the bench today?''.

I don't think I'll watch any of this game, other than the goals for my goals review.

I couldn't care less about it. I did check the weather for Boston and it looks like a pretty mild day. I could totally see this being one of those games that they have to wait until after sunset to start.

I’m guessing the new Pittsburgh owners are a major reason for where and who is playing.
The Penguins new owners (Fenway Sports Group) own Fenway park (and the Red Sox)

So they buy the team and get a nice winter classic game in their baseball stadium in Boston.

They bought them well after it was known who plays and where it will be played.

Umm no they didn’t. They bought them over a year ago and the process started well before then. They haven’t even officially announced next years winter classic yet with it only recently being reported that it’s expected to be Seattle and Vegas.

There’s no doubt FSG’s purchase of the Penguins is a major if not the main factor in where and who is playing this game.

they will never do it because it still draws well but they should ditch the winter classic in traditional markets with fans and do like they did with the lake tahoe weekend. get 8 teams together and run two games on saturday and two on sunday different venue every year

Lol

Honestly feel like the Canucks should be doing what they can to get rid of him and try to keep Horvat. Even if they have to retain some salary or something it’s probably worth it if he keeps going like this. Although Horvat is having a unreal year that’s likely gonna see him overpaid.

It's sad, because Benning FUBAR'd that team badly and almost everythiung that's going on there right now is his fault.

But the real first signature move that the new regime made was re-signing a guy that they were nonstop talking about trading for close to a year before he was mysteriously re-signed out of nowhere.

But as I always say, Rutherford isn't any good. He won the cup twice in Pittsburgh with a combination of Shero's guys and a few hall of famers who were drafted even before Shero and were a product of the early 00's dark years there.

Rutherford was mostly a joke in Hartford/Carolina, in spite of one cup win, another cup finals and a whole lot of playoff misses. Almost nothing but playoff misses outside of those two cups finals runs, save for 2009. Was there another playoff berth in there sometime? Can't remember.

Should’ve sold on Miller and also should sell on Horvat.

Could they and should they still sell Miller? I can’t see it happening but I’d imagine they could get some decent assets/futures back for him if they retained 1-2M. Obviously that’s a lot given he has 7 years after this. But would that be better than carrying him around as a potential 8M anchor for 7 years.

The problem for the Canucks is that they do have a few a really good young pieces in their mid 25s. If they were to go into a full rebuild which may be where they’re headed it will be hard to keep those guys around.
