He was a negative in GSAx the two years in Washington. Just a -2.76 last year and a -7.58 the first year. Which is weird cause he was league average save percentage that year. I guess Washington had a more goalie friendly system than most teams.

Here's the real kicker though. For as much as some people were really enamored with Blackwood, he wasn't a positive in GSAx in his first two years in the NHL where he was good. He was still a minus even in those years, although just barely. Roughly a -0.5 goals each season.

At least that's what evolving hockey has him at.

I'm looking at money puck and they have him as a positive for 19-20, but not in 18-19.
It’s interesting to me to see the xGA does not line up with save percentage. On some level there is some subjective element involved. The stats don’t seem to include the timing element for example. Is the goalie better or worse in a close game. Is he fine in a close game but gives up more goals once his team falls behind by two, etc.

What happened to this guy? I know he had concussion issues, but I thought he was still highly touted...I remember looking at him when Hall was being shopped.

Pretty much just injuries. I think this latest one wasn't concussion related and Arizona doing him a favor if he wasn't going to be playing with them. Decent reclamation project for Toronto, especially with their injuries on defense. Back when he was still with the Avs, I thought he had 2nd pair / 2nd PP unit / 2nd PK unit upside. But maybe not a great sign if he can't crack Arizona's lineup. I was surprised for a moment when I saw he was 24.

Oh, I was wrong, intangibles as far as the eye can see. This is exactly what he should have immediately blew the Jost cap on.

Anytime I see the word identity in hockey anymore I feel like there’s some caveman in my presence.

Between that DUMB line name for the Islanders (Identity line lol) and then comments like this.

I just feel like a young nerd. It makes me feel younger than I really am.
