Literally no one is saying he shouldn't be held accountable for his on-ice actions. I certainly think he should have faced lengthier suspensions in his career.

But there is a considerable difference between making questionable hits in the contact of a physical sport, and physically and emotionally abusing a disabled child for years. These aren't comparable situations at all. It's ridiculous to conflate them.
i typed up a reply but never mind not even worth it.

I guess if you’re going to give a big contract to a horrible hockey player might as well do it while your team is not in a contention window. Still hilarious that they could’ve gotten a haul for him at the deadline.

I think Fitz was supposed to be in on him, one of the biggest bullets we ever dodged, can you imagine?

The Flyers' asset management of late has been nothing short of baffling. Imagine losing out on Gaudreau, who desperately wanted to play for them, because they had too much money tied up in Ristolainen and couldn't figure out a way to dump other salary. I still think that's incredible.

I think it's all on Fletcher. He didn't exactly have a stellar track record with the Wild either. No clue how he ever got another GM gig. I don't remember details, but I remember him making quite a number of baffling moves.

The Risto valuation around the league is one I never got. I remember someone did a poll on the main board and I think I went with 4th or 5th round pick or something like that,. I am usually decent at valuing what a player will get in a trade but not in Risto's case.

f*** Mitchell Miller.

How heart breaking for that young man. Ugh, he deserves some peace and security. This should never have needed to be played out in public. Miller just doesn't get it. I still suspect he's a sociopath and needs significant therapy. On some level, he's been used by two NHL organizations which saw him as a tool rather than a person. Maybe if either team had actually cared about Mitchell the human being they could have started him with a real psychiatric evaluation and worked with qualified professionals from there. But, they didn't because they don't actually care about him either. So much awful to go around. Really terrible.

What's most amazing is that these things were foreseeable.

Dude....I get being Devils Advocate and all that but in this case, the person to really feel sorry for is the young man this piece of s--t abused.

Let's not minimize what he did and try to paint this sociopath as some kind of victim 'cause he's not.

I'm not minimizing anything. If you read that from what I said I wasn't clear. He's no victim, but his actions are not surprising in my view. He's a sociopath. That's not an excuse, that's just an explanation. I don't want to go too far down the rabbit hole but he probably needs help and treatment. He's never going to understand what he did without it. Society is better off if he is treated than if he is untreated.

Okay now I get what you're saying.

Yeah...It *is* better if he gets actual help so he can at least have the epiphany that what he did was 100000% wrong.

The problem is that he's got Parents who are f'n Enablers so the chances of him getting that help are very slim.

Maybe he cannot be rehabilitated at which point he should be on a watch list somewhere but if he can learn to understand what he did he can become a functional human being instead of whatever he is right now. He can never fix what he did under any set of circumstances though, that much is self-evident.

It plays out in public because the Miller’s put it there since 2016.

They have been angry at Isaiah and his family at the start for pressing charging.

That’s why the magistrate as well as the family didn’t find him remorseful, unlike the other boy. The statement he read in court was terrible, he took zero responsibility for what happened. In fact he made no mention of what happened and was sorry he wasn’t a “good friend” (not what he was charged with btw).

Starting with the police report you can see Mitch and his family give an account of both his relationship with Isaiah and the events of that day which are not backed by eye witnesses or the video.

But he’s a popular kid in town and grievance culture plays well in his circle so they went to war on Isaiah’s family.

Comically and grotesquely his defenders keep attacking the victim and his families motives and truthfulness but any attempt to point out how Miller has been full of shit gets hand waved away as unproved or character assassin or blah blah blah.

The irony is that the kid and his family weren’t a complete piece of crap Miller could have put this behind him.

However the narrative that this was a one time prank that got out of hand, that he never targeted Miller as a victim, that Isaiah used the N-word first and Miller then “innocently” repeated it, questioning if he’s really disabled or if Miller knew that, blah, blah, blah

I didn’t listen to the podcast that the agent did but this is the same bull shit he reportedly regurgitated.

This is why Miller reportedly bombed his draft interviews so hard, teams were appalled by how bad his answers were about this. He takes no personal responsibility.

His supporters on the main board are pathetic. Sorry, supporting his bullshit is why people are emboldened to attack Isaiah. Most of them on HF hid their takes (poorly) in fake Just Asking Questions poses too.

Yeah, I’m a little sick of this entitled turd and the numerous chances Miller f***s up while people paint him as a victim. They have zero sympathy for Isaiah and say appalling things about his family. If I was Isaiah’s mother I would be pissed too.
