Considering this organization has The Biggest Piece of S--t playing on it for many years in Brad Marchand, I'm not at all surprised that they decided to add another piece of s--t to the team.

EDIT : But thanks to Bettman, it's all a moot point and it makes the Bruins organization look like bigger pieces of sh*t than Brad himself and that's saying something.

They should be docked draft picks on pure stupidity alone.

i've mentioned this before other times. i find it funny that the players being interviewed about this are all about the "culture they built and the organization history and all that stuff" ' yet they are completely fine with brad being on that team? as long as your a fine person off the ice you can be a dirty scumbag player on the ice we don't care we just want to win.

Have you or anyone here been to their board at all lately?

I'm curious how their fans here are taking this whole fiasco....
Nah

I honestly don't go to other teams boards too much (other than the Sharks) unless I'm trying to find something out about a player or if I see a really bad goal on one of their goalies or bad game from them and wanna read what their fans say about it.

I'm sure most people were not happy over there.

Bergeron didn't look or sound very happy about it in that interview. He didn't come out and say how embarrassed he was or how terrible of a look it was, but he stopped just short of saying all that. He probably didn't wanna throw the only organization he's ever played for in the NHL under the bus, but he certainly was not happy about it.

I was following the threads over there, the vast majority of them were pissed off about them signing him, didn't understand why they would cloud their great start to the season by signing someone like this. Others are calling for Neely and Sweeneys jobs now over it as well. They also jammed the Boston Bruins feedback application about how they were annoyed on their website to the point it responded saying they are getting so many submissions that they were sending generic responses back because of it.

The vast majority are happy he's gone now but annoyed that their players had to field questions about this stuff and have it overshadow their start to the season when the players had nothing to do with this douche being signed.

There were a very few trying to defend this shit bag but that seems to be the case everywhere.

Their apology was silly. Apparently they had all this wrong information on him. The correct info had already come out publicly when the Coyotes drafted him. A 15-30 minute read of his HFBoards prospect thread would have given all the info they needed while they spent months trying to find it and still getting wrong.

That’s because their line is a bunch of horseshit. They didn’t spend 6 months figuring out if this guy was a piece of shit or not, they spent six months deciding if they could get away with signing him even though he’s a piece of shit.

They even signed him in the middle of the Finland series, which they probably thought would be something they could bury the story behind. Instead, Bettman got stuck fielding questions about it at a time he wanted to be talking about his efforts to grow the game. The fact that he dunked on the Bruins in the press conference so openly shows just how happy he was to have that dumped in his lap. Would love to have seen what was said privately.

The only encouraging thing in the whole affair is how united the response was. The only thing that will keep evil people like Miller out of the game is if the public demands it. Front offices only care how good the player is and how much it will cost them to keep their dirty laundry out of the news.

That’s what I don’t get . Is that dirt bag really that good of a prospect? you’d have to think they are way more potential NHL level players like overage kids that got passes over in the dradr that are playing very good now?!
Unless I’m missing something l this kid is nothing special so why even bother going through all this shit to try to sign him? Makes zero sense.

That is why its silly. Biggest press release for the team in who knows how long. They probably had everyone in upper management and the entire PR staff pore over it.

How do they come up with something that is so obviously fake and an even bigger black eye with so many people involved?

Edit: if they plan on firing Neely and Sweeney the release is spot on. It makes them look like fools and absolves blame from others involved.

On talent, I think many had him as a late 2nd round guy for 2020. Central Scouting had him #49 on their final North American list. But most figured he'd drop or go undrafted (a la Myles Bell who'd get drafted by the Devils in his third eligible season).

Led the USHL in goals with 39 as an overager, but kinda unusual since Miller is a defenseman; Likely 2023 top 3 pick Adam Fantilli had 37 last season. Miller had a scholarship with North Dakota that got pulled once his legal issues got more press after he'd been drafted. If Miller had quietly gone undrafted, it's possible that he would have played at UND.

If it was just on talent, Miller's definitely worth an ELC. Boston probably miscalculated and thought they were getting a decent free prospect for a small PR backlash. But they didn't anticipate it being as unpopular as it was even within their own locker room.

There's a significant difference between being dirty on the ice and being a legitimately bad human being off the ice.

No one likes Marchand on the ice. But by all accounts, he is a good person elsewhere. Don't conflate the two. This is a very bad comparison with Miller.

Unfortunately it made some sense for Boston to try to add a prospect for free. No first round pick in 2018, 2020, and 2022. No second round pick in 2019, 2021, and 2023. Their 2017 1st didn't pan out and their 2019 1st might only have 3rd line upside. They didn't have a RD prospect with NHL upside.

Maybe not a coincidence that they announced the signing on a Friday and probably hoped that the heat would die down over the weekend.

I was busy this weekend and just now caught up on all the Bruins/Miller news from the weekend. Holy shit, that went from bad to worse to shitfest to dumpster fire to nuclear wasteland with every new development.

I just cannot understand what possessed the Bruins to do this. It's like these bozos in charge there saw the heat the Habs took for drafting a dude who committed a sexual offense and were like, "That's nothing, hold our beer".

yeah i get they are different circumstances but again to take the moral high ground and then go into a locker room with a dirty player and be completely fine with his antics and play that really isn't good sportsmanship. again i get its 1000000000000000% about winning and marchand is good thats why the put up with it but still isn't right.

Marchand isn't abusing disabled kids in his free time and lying about where he volunteers. These are categorically different situations.

This whole thing had the feel of a bunch of people sitting in a afternoon planning meeting telling themselves they knew what was going to happen and how they had great PR front to take care of it.

And by Sweeney’s mealy-mouthed presser (with friendly press!) the wheels were already very wobbly. Once reporters started fact checking that agent’s statement, well…

I’m not surprised that Miller claimed his court ordered service was volunteer work/personal growth yet again but that both the agent and the Bruins accepted the claim is pretty special.

He pulled that move in his letter to teams during the draft and got called on it. Either they did zero research or didn’t understand why that’s wrong.

Yeah. Bergeron was put in a very awkward and uncomfortable position by stupid-as-f**k management there. I can imagine he was irate off-camera at them.

Just want to say that if Mitchell wants to play professional hockey, he can go play in the KHL and take his "enablers" Mommy and Daddy with him.

Meh.

A Piece of s--t is a Piece of s--t whether it's on the ice or off it.

That's the comparison here.

They can both go play in traffic for all I care. :thumbd:
