f*** Mitchell Miller.

I didn't think it could get worse, but it's even worse. Clearly there can be no redemption for Miller, because there is no remorse or acceptance of responsibility. Running him out of the league is perfectly justified.

I'm just sad that in our modern, supposedly enlightened era, people like this still exist. And they teach their children to be just as awful and hateful as them. Miller didn't learn this shit out of nowhere, the parents are almost certainly horrible people also.

All you need to do is read what his father says (I think there was a tweet out there) and that tells you that the Turd doesn't fall far from pile of s--t.

wonder if we'd put a claim in for Hellberg so that they can get Schmid back to Utica?

Probably not.

I wouldn't be shocked if we did, but also wouldn't be shocked if Philly or Seattle did as well. I think Grubauer is still out for a couple weeks and they had to call up Joey Daccord to be their backup. They originally signed Hellberg to be their #3, so maybe he'll get a chance to use those great Kraken custom pads after all.

I would totally claim Hellberg. If we think Bernier is going to be out for a while, and we're not sure about Blackwood's status on return, Hellberg makes perfect sense as a stopgap.

Plus Ottawa's in town anyways and I always enjoy when a player walks to the other locker room after being acquired. But Seattle would have higher waiver priority, so I'd be a little surprised if Hellberg made it to us.

It’d take Hellberg off waivers. I’m sure that when one of Blackwood or Bernier is ready we could just waive him and someone would pick him up. I’d be surprised though if he would make it to us for us to pick him up.

I agree but it strangely depends on Bernier's health. If he is ready for AHL games, then ride it out with Schmid as NHL backup and Bernier get conditioning in AHL.

If Bernier is going to be out as long as Blackwood, then yes, pick up Hellberg off waivers.

it sounds like he's gotten his life together in EDM. No negative media reports I can recall during his stint there. Hopefully he can overcome this.
It’s very hard to get in trouble in Edmonton… About the worst things you can do is - stealing or breaking into someone’s Igloo ( very hard to put a security system in an igloo), snowmobile , dog sled and dogs .
Other crimes but not as serious - poaching maple syrup from peoples trees , talking negatively about hockey Ex. - “ I dont watch hockey , never liked it “ (used to be a felony charge in Alberta ). Not ending sentences in “eh” .

Insane. They can't even jump out of the hole they dug themselves into.

I think we as fans often assume that there is some meticulous process that goes into decision making for sports clubs, that they consider possibilities and contingencies, actions and reactions, and valuations and risks. That they carefully plan out moves years in advance to build a contender, like chess grandmasters visualizing their endgames during the opening moves.

And then shit like this immediately proves that notion wrong, because it's clear that the Bruins put less thought into this than I did about what I wanted for lunch today.

Yep. Too many people use the appeal to authority in defense of "hockey men". Breaking news: A lot of them are simply not that smart. I've maintained for a long time, and I believe I am correct, that a plurality, maybe majority, of hockey executives are truly extremely dumb individuals. There are definitely HFBoards posters who could run a team better than some GMs.

Like, most of these guys barely have a high school education and are exiting years of getting their brain smushed around before becoming "executives". Is it a wonder why some of them make horrible decisions?

seeing that really makes you wish espn/tnt had broadcasting rights instead of oln/versus/nbcsn during their prime years. having those two playing on the east coast would've been great for the sport if they had a bigger audience.

sid or alex though who has/had the better career? not counting cups in this but just individual career

Not for me. I was very happy with NBCSN's coverage of the NHL. ESPN & TNT have both been a downgrade.

I could also care less about the popularity of the sport. If the NHL were more popular maybe we'd get some more segments on SportsCenter or PTI. Who cares? Ticket prices would also go up and it's not like the NHL would then do away with ads on the jerseys/helmets or the ridiculous animated boards - they'd likely do even more. Just look at the NFL and how many ads they squeeze into those broadcasts.

how has espn and tnt been a downgrade? ticket prices aren't going to go up or down based on the popularity of the sport and ads are coming to everywhere every sport regardless of where its broadcast its a business and they want to make money

I really don't wanna see Mitchell Miller actually get paid for the contract he signed, I'd rather he walked away with not a damn thing, but I also would love to see the Bruins penalized with his cap hit/buyout, as they certainly deserve the additional cap weight for choosing to sign him and to be so stupid to sign him. So I'm not sure how that works.

If they buy him out:

He makes a lot less and there’s no cap hit if they waive him and have him sit at home. They lose a contract slot.
