Huh I heard Calgary media genius Eric Francis this week on the radio insist that the east was loosey goosey, run and gun while the west was tough defensive hard rock hockey This is a guy who watches the Pacific division nightly.

Hockey media are genuinely the dumbest people out there.

It's their job to watch the game and they still come up with takes like this. BOS/TB/TOR are top 5 defensive teams. TB less so because of Hedman's struggles and Sergachev, but still better than most teams in the West.

An easy Pacific division will allow the Oilers to have success in the postseason with McDrai being able to take over games, but they’ll never win the whole enchilada with their piss poor goaltending, defence, and depth.

It is funny Skinners numbers are falling pretty rapidly. Would be a shame if Edmonton committed over 7 million per year for the next 3 seasons to two backup goalies.

Sick of this shit. Every God forsaken year there’s always one Atlantic team that has to be balls to the walls fantastic to make sure we can’t get the first spot. Last year it was Florida who has now decided to shit the bed this year, God forbid they collapsed last season. Now Boston has their “renaissance” season and if they miraculously falter next year some :eek::eek::eek: up and coming team like Buffalo or Detroit or Montreal or Ottawa will somehow figure it out and run away with first. Hell maybe it’ll be Tampa. Anyone but Toronto. f***s sake.
Yes, but as of right now, I’m not sure it matters this year. If the goaltending continues to be really good the Leafs are more likely than Boston to win the East, IMO.

The earlier they secure their playoff position the earlier they can manage the ice time of some older guys before heading into the playoffs.

Edmonton and Florida both getting caved in... The Panthers give up five to the offensive dynamo that is the New York Islanders and drop below the Buffalo Sabres in the standings.

I shouldn't care, in fact it's probably better for us that they squeak into the postseason.

But a few posters on the main boards make this feel like just desserts.

While unlikely, I’m really hoping Boston slows down and leafs win the division. Sometimes I do believe the leafs are cursed. The set of circumstances are such that it will be very difficult for them to beat Tampa in round 1. Leafs are legit an awesome team but the pressure to win a round will be at an all time high this year since Dubas hasn’t been given an extension. This is a message to both Dubas and the core players that most likely this is your last chance. Tampa has made it to 3 straight finals, these guys literally live for the playoffs and will have very little pressure. Just a horrible set of circumstances for the leafs. Does feel like they have better depth this year, but it’s always something every single year - ‘they’re better this year BUT…’. Anyway here’s hoping this is the franchise altering year we are all hoping for.

It is a small market here, and Flames media have been commenting on this powerhouse Flames team without criticism for years.
You don't get many negative comments about this team here unless it is from Sutter.

In December

Canes are the best team in the league with 10-0-1
