Sens lose their 3rd straight. They can't get going. They go on a short win streak and than give it away again.

This version of the Leafs matches up really well against the Bruins IMO but the Bruins have owned the entire season and are going to be really hard to catch for 1st place, so looks like it’s Tampa Toronto again.

The Isles and Jets are frauds being carried by elite goaltending.
Islanders are at least getting exposed now. They were in the top 5-10 not too long ago and are now in the bottom half of the league. I'm pissed the Leafs blew the game against them but unfortunately Kallgren was in net so it's not really on the team.

With Murray/Samsonov in net: 18-5-2 (a 59 win, 125 point pace)
With Kallgren in net: 3-2-4 (a 27 win, 91 point pace)

Was reading that OV broke the record for shots. I have never liked volume shooters in any sport (I don’t think it’s a coincidence that team success rarely follows those types). Somewhat eye catching is he’ll end up with around 2000 more shots than Gretzky to get to the same point. Some will argue OV would have scored way more against those goalies. So that made me think “what about Matthews”?

If Matthews gets 42 this year, his raw totals will be ahead of OV through their first 7 seasons. Despite all the extra ice time, PP time OV got. I never looked at shots but it took OV 2829 shots over 7 seasons. Matthews is at 1728 right now. So he’ll likely do it with 1000 less shots. OV would have taken around 56% more shots to get to the same place.

I don’t know that people appreciate how much of a freak Auston is.

To be fair, Hellebuyck is an elite goalie. One of the rare ones that can be counted on to be very good year-in/year-out.

But I agree about Winnipeg. There are always a couple teams that 'surprise' every year based on goaltending, high shooting %, or just 'gelling.' Most fall back to their usual mediocrity by the end of the season or the following year.

Yep, most teams have a MVP regardless of their results.

Leafs have been frauds, as played out in the post season, by having Matthews scoring at will.
Lets hope their fraud doesn't last as long a Ovechkins.

Well he's the 4th stringer.

Seems like the east can never lose to the west. What a shifty conference.
He is, that was moreso to show our success with our top 2 guys

Funny thing is that even with that 125 point pace, we'd be pacing for 14 less than the Bruins currently are lmao

Time to just accept that Boston is long gone in 1st lol let's beat the shit out of them on the 14th though.
They have 2 home games until we play them on the 14th

There's a very real chance they still haven't lost in regulation at home by the time we play. Would love to hand them their first L

Huh I heard Calgary media genius Eric Francis this week on the radio insist that the east was loosey goosey, run and gun while the west was tough defensive hard rock hockey This is a guy who watches the Pacific division nightly.
