I'm trying to feel bad for Campbell, I really am.

I was a long time lurker before signing up. Oilers fan deserve it after all the shit talk that came out of them. Here's hoping they fail to make the playoffs this year. Either way, it's not like Jack has ever gotten past the first round, so I wouldn't hold my breath (even with McDavid on the team).

Feel bad for Jack in Edmonton.

Having Ceci and Barrie in your top 4 is a recipe for disaster.

Vancouver picks up Ethan Bear and he's now in their top 4.

Yeah, they're still losing but I was surprised the games I've watched he's played key minutes for them when he couldn't get into the 'Canes line-up at all.

Hows Foegele doing? Just trying to remember from those games? I think he's okay, other than no production. Is he their Engvall? Bear was traded for Foegele.

Bear or Foegele? I think I'd take Bear.
Holl or Engvall?
Holl or Bear?
Bear is playing 2:43 SH TOI/g
Holl is playing 3:06 SH TOI/g

Bear is 25, 2.2mm (1.8 'Canes retained) - RFA
Holl is 30, 2.0mm - UFA

Bear has been ok.. he has been solid in just simple things.. moving the puck up and decent down low. Couple turnovers with one blatant one so far - i missed the montreal game but saw everything else

Seen some edmonton - foegle is mostly a "is he playing tonight?" .. he is not what he was in carolinas system.. gritty hard constant forecheck hitting etc... he still has that in him but carolinas system really help certain players to become noticeable - similar to minnesota

Im not going to dig up every article, but virtually every sports commentator said replacing campbell with murray and samsonov was a mistake. Nearly every offseason ranking had poor marks for Dubas citing his goaltending moves.
Not signing campbell or who the replacement was

I think ACC is meaning specifically for not aigning campbell - no comparisons to the replacement

By lots of people that dont matter in the grand scheme of things.. like us on a message board lol

I dont remember seeing any real heat for not signing campbell
My memory must be fading, seemed to me everyone was happy to move on.

Poor marks were deserved for sure.
I don't follow the media, so I'll take your word for it.

Noting... Goalies who changed teams last offseason by SV %

Georgiev 0.924
Samsonov 0.921
Vanacek 0.909
Campbell 0.873
Kuemper 0.916
Mrazek 0.895
Husso 0.924
Comrie 0.885

Samsamov 2.23 GAA
Vanacek 2.33
Kuemper 2.47
Georgiev 2.66
Campbell 4.27
Husso 2.54
Comrie 3.62

If Dubas was deservedly criticized for his goalie moves, perhaps it's telling that you shouldn't criticize goalie moves, until seeing the results. 2nd of goalies that moved in SV%, first in GAA for Samsanov. It's a TBD on Murray, who has only played one game.

And really, we're only a month into a 6 month season.

Based on a 2.5 months last year Campbell was an all-star.

Don't forget Husso and Comrie as well. Georgiev though... Sakic is a genius. Always one step ahead.

For myself, I thought Samsonov was a good move.

There was a contingent of folks who thought that they should've just paid up for Campbell instead of trading for Murray since Murray wasn't making that much less overall. Either way, I'm happy that we don't have that albatross of a deal for a mediocre goalie. Murray has his issues but at least if he's injured he can go onto LTIR and it's not just dead cap space.

Campbell lost them the game in the 2nd period. Oilers just cut the lead in half and then he allowed an awful goal to Svech. The dagger was the buzzer beater by Staal. Those goals can't go in.

Eh I'm not sure about that. Maybe they deserved a better fate vs SEA and NYI on this losing streak, but they haven't been great overall.

One thing to note about the Flames is everything went right for them last year. A ton of players had career years and they had zero impactful injuries. This year, Tanev, Kylington, Stone, and now Huberdeau have missed time, and a guy like Mangiapane doesn't have horseshoes up his ass.
Calgary is top 5-10 in pretty much all the underlying metrics. Shots, shot attempts, expected goals etc, and they're also one of the best teams at limiting chances and shots against. Their goaltending is failing them though and they're also in a shooting funk (26th in shooting %, the Leafs are 27th for comparison). They're similar to the Leafs right now actually where they're not scoring as much as they should be, but the Leafs have received top 10 goaltending whereas the Flames are getting bottom 5 goaltending right now. They have a bottom 5 PDO as a result, so they should turn it around eventually, though it depends if Markstrom is just washed up now or if he can return to form.

So NHL will find out if they have to leave the team in college or it can graduate to an NHL arena.
Or move to an empty NHL arena?

I knew Ottawa was having a bad time but in relation to the rest of the division they’re having a much worse go of it than I thought.

Buffalo and Detroit who are the most comparable teams to them are actually competitive so far, while Montreal who people thought would be tanking are well ahead of the Sens too.

The “Summer of Pierre” has smoothly transitioned into the “Fall of Ottawa.”

Not gonna lie it's pretty hilarious that nothing has changed in Ottawa except the level of disappointment

Putting aside the irrelevance of Lou (the star goalie prospect he inherited is doing well, hooray?), the Leafs literally just beat Boston and Carolina on back to back nights. Weird argument.

Every squirrel finds a nut once in a while. The argument is that the Isles can throw a true #1 on back to back nights while the Leafs throw a hope and a prayer. Their prayers were answered last weekend but let's see if they are answered when it counts.

So the two teams did the exact same thing, and you're using that as a basis to suggest that Isles are doing things better?
Because you arbitrarily concluded that it's natural for the team that missed the playoffs last season, and thus counts, but just represents "finding a nut once in a while" for the team coming off a franchise-record 115 point season?
The Leafs, when their goalies are healthy like the Isles, can throw out a #1 on back to back nights as well. But wouldn't the fact that the Leafs overcame that actually more impressive feat with their #4 suggest that they are better built otherwise?

Added them. The Georgiev move is part genius, part lucky. Georgiev was just as much a gamble as any goalie, as while he showed some promise, he didn't look that great behind Shesterkin either. Goalies are such voodoo.

These posts are hilarious.

You are referring to Lou and his $5 million backup goalie, right?
