Burke helped build a really good Calgary Flames team before he left to join Sportsnet.

I think it’s more so proven that Hextall is just a bad GM or he can’t convince owners to rebuild. This is the second team he tried to go a different direction than ownership and ownership forced his hand and it’s gone to shit.

Don’t really think Burke has much to do with it. Also where is Mike Sullivan in all of this.
The Pens reminded me of the Nucks when the Twins were a few years from retiring. At that time they also had Elder in defence. The MGt at that time just wanted to squeeze the last bits from the Twins instead of tanking and get high picks. They were also bad at drafting 1st rounder too. I think missing the playoffs will be good in the long run. I don’t think they will be a force till Malkin, Letang and Sid retire.

The West has some decent teams, but I personally don't think they matchup as peers to the best from the East. Maybe McDavid goes on beast mode for example, but they may not get passed the Kings. Same with Dallas and the Wild.

So we'll see
It all depends on McD. Oilers goes as far as he goes.

A "one and done" sure seems like it'd be a tough pill to swallow when giving up the 7th overall as a non-playoff team.
7th overall plus 39th overall plus a 3rd lmao.

Cant forget about the talbot for gustavsson swap. Summer of Pierre did work.

I regarded both moves positively for Ottawa upon hearing the news. Since I ultimately base transactions on how they ultimately turn out though...I'd say the Summer Of Pierre ended up being a Festivus for the rest of us!

Wow. Didn't know the gap was that big between Pasta and Marchand.

His goals almost match Marchand's points!

Crazy thing about Marchand was he only scored 2 goals the last 2 months of the season pretty much and went 7 games in a row without a single point. Idk if I should be happy about this or worried that he's gonna go crazy during the playoffs.

Looks like Marchand has slowed down significantly over the course of the second half. Would be a shame if Marchand, Bergeron, Krejci and Foligno came down with a case of the Olds right as round one started and Boston reverted to a one line team in a track meet vs Florida...

Just checked: Florida and Boston's season series is 2-2

Bruins 5-3 - October 17
Panthers 5-2 - November 23
Bruins 7-3 - December 19
Panthers 4-3 OT - January 28

I doubt they'll be a 1 line team like previous seasons. They got ridiculous depth.

March-Berg-DeBrusk
Bertuzzi-Kreijci-Pasta
Hall-Coyle-Zacha
Frederic-Nosek-Hathaway with Foligno, Greer and Lauko waiting to check in whenever. Then the D depth is insane with a very good goalie as well. I hope you're right and they do run out of gas but I don't see that happening. Should be a good matchup if we both advance and it's a shame we'd see it in the 2nd round and not the 3rd round possibly. Regardless though, playoffs should be fun to watch this year.

Marchand had double hip surgery. When he came back it didn't seem like he really missed a beat but maybe he's feeling it now.

Even your scenario still needs Debrusk to go cold. Coyle and Hall also not scoring on 3rd line.

They have two 50+ points Ds just in case.
Hell, even Ullmark can score this year.

The summer of Pierre. LMAO!

Along with wicked predictions from the Sens group came some totally off base polls. I'm tempted to bump that Tkachuk v. Marner poll just for comparison's sake.

Let's beat Tampa, let Florida get their licks in and then worry about it later.

Think how good Marner was this year, playing on a top 5 team with elite players. Now ask yourself how good is MT who ended up with 10 more points than MM in one fewer game and on a bubble playoff team ? MT has 100+ points in B2B seasons for two different teams. Not too shabby for a guy who stirs the shit any chance he gets.
