Brings back memories and tears/laughs.

Same thing happened to JFj, after the lock-out.
He wanted to rebuild and wasn't permitted.

Poetic justice?

After moving to the Bruins, I heard JFJ on the radio (with Lansberg) brag that he brought Rask to the organization.:mad:

Burke can be entertaining, but I wouldn't necessarily trust his team building abilities in today's NHL.

Would imagine he moves onto a media role now
Definitely think its time for the old guard to move onto something different, don't think he's suited for the new pace atm.

Media is always great for him due to his entertaining blunt nature.

Burke helped build a really good Calgary Flames team before he left to join Sportsnet.

I think it’s more so proven that Hextall is just a bad GM or he can’t convince owners to rebuild. This is the second team he tried to go a different direction than ownership and ownership forced his hand and it’s gone to shit.

Don’t really think Burke has much to do with it. Also where is Mike Sullivan in all of this.

One of the biggest Leaf Killers in the league, Craig Anderson is finally retiring. He seems like a well-beloved guy! I hated to play against him but he looks like a great guy.
Apparently an absolute hell of a guy off the ice, there's a good reason he always had a job in this league even as his on ice contributions diminished with age. A great role model for young players and the fans. I remember back in his Colorado days he had a 40+ save shutout and I remember thinking at the time it was one of the best individual performances I'd seen by any player. What a great career, and as you said a true Leafs killer

It's great to have stability in the front office and at the head coaching position. But when the Leafs were toiling for many years there, following the search for a new GM and keeping tabs on the top prospects on a daily basis was also fun. That hope that the new person(s) would make things better and lead the team down the path (like to where it is now).

I'd be excited as a Pens fan that they're wiping the slate clean. Unless of course, they botch it up. LOL

Toews last game tonight as a Blackhawk.

Feels like it’s his last NHL game too. Long Covid has really affected him.

I wish him the best.

Isn’t this his 2nd or 3rd undiagnosable mystery illness now? I remember him missing time before COVID with something similar where he’s lethargic and not himself with nothing obvious to diagnose.

Landeskog apparently out for the whole playoffs as well. Big blow to Colorado.
Path in the West gets even easier.
Edmonton has a legit shot as much as I hate to say it but Skinner has been good and any team with an on fire McDavid has a chance.

I just wish some of their fans weren't big assholes but they probably think the same.

Burke seems like he's at his most useful when there's trades to be made - he strikes me as someone who really knows how to get what he wants in those situations. Personally I don't particularly trust him with the rest of the team building process, especially anything to do with drafting and prospects/younger guys

West will lose in the finals to whomever champions the East

Edmonton could pick up a lot of momentum and if they get to the finals I see it being a coin flip due to their star power factor. They could just have a great week and a half. I hope Dallas or Colorado put an end to them first though. Dallas is balanced and a quality team but I think they're stoppable. Colorado is a bit depleted from last year.

The West has some decent teams, but I personally don't think they matchup as peers to the best from the East. Maybe McDavid goes on beast mode for example, but they may not get passed the Kings. Same with Dallas and the Wild.

So we'll see
